Anuel AA is a busy man. The Puerto Rican reggaeton star just dropped his sneakers collab with Reebok, just hours before the first show of his “Legends Never Die Tour” in Orlando this Friday.

El Bebecito is more focused than ever. He has even promised to stay “unencumbered by romance” for the near future. We can expect some amazing things if he manages to keep his promise.

According to Reebok, Anuel AA’s new sneakers line “is inspired by the Caribbean sky and offers a new take on Question Mid Double Toe and Classic Leather 1983 Vintage. From Hexalite cushioning and molded EVA midsole to a cool leather upper—each silhouette features signature details only Anuel can bring to these classics.”

The collaboration produced two models of black and white shoes with a touch of blue. There is one very vintage looking, while the second has futuristic lines and a very basketball shoe aesthetic. They are gorgeous. It can be said without a doubt that Anuel’s career is “más rica que ayer.”

A brilliant move

This is not the first time the Puerto Rican artist has collaborated with Reebok. Last year, Anuel AA released his Pump Omni Zone II, a tribute to the old-school design of the 90s.

The artist’s sneakers are part of a trend among urban music stars to collaborate with sport shoe brands and release their custom designs.

This trend has produced some unique products and helped to merge the worlds of music and fashion.

After the success of hip-hop artists’ push for sneakers in the mid-1980s, that’s a market every urban singer wants to dip their toes into.

In 2019 alone, the sneaker market reached $700 million.

Especially for the Reebok brand, since its 2003 collaboration with artists like Jay-Z and 50 Cent, the market has been different.

Now, urban Latino singers are the most sought-after for these collaborations

Anuel AA’s latest collection follows in the footsteps of giants in the industry.

Bad Bunny is one of the most notable Latino urban music stars to release a sneaker collaboration.

In 2020, he partnered with Adidas to release the “Bad Bunny x Adidas Forum Buckle Low ‘The First Café'” sneaker. This sneaker has a brown leather upper with a buckle closure reminiscent of Puerto Rican coffee culture.

The shoe sold out almost immediately and has become one of the most sought-after sneaker collaborations in recent years.

Before him, in 2019, J Balvin teamed up with Nike to release the “J Balvin x Air Jordan 1” sneaker. Balvin’s love of fashion and art inspired this shoe’s vibrant and striking tie-dye design.

During his 2020 Super Bowl appearance, Jose wore his Jordans.

The sneaker sold out in just a few hours, and its popularity has led to Balvin working on a second sneaker collaboration with Nike. In 2022, he released a new version.

We must also remember the iconic collaboration between Rihanna’s Fenty brand and Latino reggaeton star Jowell.

In 2020, they teamed up to release the “Fenty x Jowell” sneaker, a chunky platform sneaker with a bold design and vibrant color scheme. The sneaker was a hit among both Rihanna and Jowell fans and has become a must-have item in the sneaker community.

And last but not least, Karol G also released her own shoe collab with Crocs.
