If you grew up in the 2000s you know that Spy Kids was a movie that had a special place in your heart. The adventures of Carmen and Juni Cortez had a particular impact on those of us who got to see Latino kids kick butt and take names all while looking calm, cool and collected in great clothes and shades. And all of this alongside Antonio Banderas and George Clooney. For a few years, we even had the chance to see them grow up in a series of Spy Kids sequels that actually did the original film justice.

But it’s been a long time since we’ve seen a reunion.

That’s why, when the actors behind Carmen and Juni reunited once again on Instagram Live we were all freaking out.

Fans of the film directed by Robert Rodriguez got a blast from the past when Alexa PenaVega and Daryl Sabara reunited on Instagram.

The now grown-up actors caught up via Instagram Live and introduced each other to their respective spouses. According to Entertainment Weekly, “although Sabara has stayed in touch with his former onscreen sister, it was the first time PenaVega had ever met his wife, pop star Meghan Trainor.”

During the catch-up, Sabara said that he kept a few momentos from the films including his ring and his costume.

“I’m like, ‘Whoa, I used to fit in that!'” Sabara remarked referring to the costume which was framed by his wife Trainor’s parents as a gift.

During the reunion, PenaVega revealed that she has also kept an outfit from the film and went onto quiz Sabara on whether or not he remembered his character Juni’s full name. “Juni Rocket Racer Rebel Cortez,” he replied before repeating the question back to her. “Carmen Elizabeth Juanita Echo Sky Bravo Cortez,” PenaVega proudly responded.

Here’s hoping PenaVega and Sabara’s reunion can inspire another Spy Kids film after we’re all over with the quarantine!
