Mj Rodriguez Sang ‘Suddenly Seymour’ And The Video Is Getting A Lot Of Love

Mj Rodriguez is one of the biggest names in television right now. The trans actress is the lead of the groundbreaking show “Pose” that is all about LGBTQ+ people of color in the late ’80s and early ’90s of New York City. The African-American and Puerto Rican actress is once again showing her impressive entertainment skills on “The Late Late Show with James Corden.”

It is perfect for the spooky season we have all been waiting for. If you’ve never seen “Little Shop of Horrors,” do it now. You won’t regret it.

Salazar tweeted to celebrate the moment that he and Rodriguez broke another barrier for LGBTQ+ people of color.

“Little Shop of Horrors” is a cult classic that has kept audiences inspired and entertained for decades. Seeing a gay Asian-Latino man and a trans Black-Latina woman take the lead roles is another step forward for queer people of color.

Salazar continued his tweet by highlighting the importance of brown, queer people getting a chance to shine on a national stage.

It is no question that the representation of queer people and people-of-color is scarce in entertainment. However, seeing Rodriguez and Salazar take one such an iconic show and do it wonderfully is something people can look up to.

While the crucial representation is lagging in Hollywood, audiences are ready to support more and more diverse projects. The annual UCLA Hollywood representation study showed that films that had 31 percent to 40 percent of minority representation garnered the biggest global box office successes.

Fans of the original show are giving the rendition so much love.

The show is playing at the Pasadena Playhouse from Sept. 17 until Oct. 20. It is safe to say that people are starting to buy up the tickets after their appearance on “The Late Late Show with James Corden.”

Fans of the two performers are thanking them on social media for the importance of their performance.

It is a very important thing for children to see themselves represented. By seeing themselves represented in major productions, other queer children of color can reach for the stars and will see their future opening up in front of them. It offers a community often ignored role models to know that they can do anything.

People who have seen the performance are admitting that they are being moved to tears.

The duo really made an impression on audience members. Their performance is one that brings chills to your body. Rodriguez shines as she sings her heart out and will leave you speechless.

So, who’s going to take my money and give me tickets for this show?

From the clip, it seems like this is a show worth watching. Who doesn’t want to experience some theatre history?

What a beautiful rendition of a timeless classic.

The New Cinderella Remake Tapped Camila Cabello To Play The Princess And Billy Porter To Be The Fabulous Godmother

This year, two 90s classics were remastered and re-launched. The CGI version of The Lion King and the live-action of Aladdin sent movie theaters into a frenzy. And with the success they had in the box office, Disney has announced a few more classics to be retold in the coming years. With live-action remakes taking over the world, interest in all things Disney is skyrocketing. So Sony Studios is giving us a new Cinderella live-action with a modern touch that sounds fairly different from the last remake from 2015, which was firmly traditional and palatable.

Here’s what we know about the latest re-imagining of the classic fairytale set to premiere on February 5, 2021.

Sony’s 2021 Cinderella already has an all-star cast

Few details are known about the plot yet, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, “Sony is putting the project on the fast track for production,” so more details will likely be released soon. Unlike 2015’s Cinderella starring Lily James, this will not be a Disney production. The Hollywood Reporter noted that the remake will be produced James Corden, and that the Grammy-nominated Camilla Cabello has been cast to play the part of the rags-to-riches princess, Cinderella. The singer is also said to be heavily involved in the music for the film, she might even inject some of her son cubano into the kids’ classic, but either way, we’re in for a treat.

“Playing Cinderella is, honestly, a dream for me,” Cabello told “Entertainment Tonight” in August. “It’s a little bit terrifying, but I’m so excited because anybody that knows me knows I’m obsessed with musicals.” “I’m really happy that we’re at a point now in a culture where ‘Aladdin’ or ‘The Little Mermaid’ … little girls can see themselves being represented,” the pop singer added. “I think that is so important, and it’s about time.” The 22-year-old (how is she only 22!) is also working on a new album, so she has a big year ahead.

Deadline reported earlier this month that Idina Menzel, is set to assume the role of Evelyn, Cinderella’s evil stepmother. Menzel voiced Elsa, the princess behind Frozen’s iconic viral song, ‘Let It Go‘. She is also a Tony and Grammy Award-winning actress who is a Broadway mainstay from shows like Rent and Wicked

Sony’s upcoming rendition of the classic tale just got a lot more fabulous with the announcement of the new fairy godmother. Billy Porter confirmed his involvement with the film during a panel at the 20th New Yorker Festival. And if you’re anything like us, you have to agree that his theatricality both on and off-screen more than qualify him for the role. The actor shared his excitement via the New Yorker’s Instagram stories where he first broke the news. “I have a couple movies that I’m working on,” Billy said. “I’m gonna be playing the fairy godmother in the new Cinderella movie with Camila Cabello.” In September, Porter became the first openly gay black man to win the Emmy for best actor in a drama for his work on Pose. Prior to that, he earned a Tony and a Grammy for his role in Broadway’s Kinky Boots.

The new imagining of the poor girl turned princess grew from an original idea by Carpool Karaoke’s James Corden.

The film is set to be a modern musical rendition of the classic, all-too-traditional fairytale. The idea for the new take on Cinderella grew from an original idea from James Corden, the late-night talk show host who has made major musical inroads thanks to his popular “Carpool Karaoke” segments. Corden is producing the project with Leo Pearlman, his partner at Fulwell 73, the production banner that has found success with documentaries such as The Class of ’92, the BAFTA-nominated Bros: After the Screaming Stops and Karaoke. The new rendition will be written and directed by Kay Cannon, who is known for her writing and producing work on the movie series Pitch Perfect and 30 Rock. Cannon got her start working on NBC’s 30 Rock, for which she earned three Emmy nominations.

She made her directorial debut with Blockers, a female-centric losing-your-virginity comedy whose cast included Kathryn Newton and John Cena.

All other plot details are being kept in a shoebox, but the story is described as a modern reimagining of the traditional tale of the orphaned girl with an evil stepmother, with a musical bent thrown in for good measure. Camila’s part in the movie would be her debut into film and we’re certain that it won’t be her last adventure in the silver screen. The new Cinderella film is just one of many Disney movies getting rebooted, and we can’t wait to see what this non-Disneyfied version has in store.

This Father Hates Reggaetón But His Daughter Is A Bad Bunny Super Fan So They Wrote A Play About It

There is nothing that a Latino dad wouldn’t do for his princesa and that includes, apparently, writing a play about her and her adoration for the Boricua pop culture icon known as Bad Bunny. If that wasn’t enough, his daughter takes center stage at the play. Keep on reading for more on this adorbs padre-hija collaboration. If you are in Puerto Rico and are a Bad Bunny fan, you should definitely have a look… at least out of curiosity.

The title of the play is “Mi Hija Ama a Bad Bunny”, o sea “My Daughter Loves Bad Bunny” and it will have a limited run at the end of the month.

The play was written by this man, Agustín Rosario, who will also direct. The play will have a limited run on September 27-29 at the Teatro Arrivi in Santurce and has previously done the rounds in community theaters throughout la isla del encanto. Seeing a family collaboration on the stage must be pretty special! Rosario had enjoyed success with two previous plays, “Hijas de su madre” and “Nos vamos pal cara”. Rosario returns to acting, and says: “I am acting again to be with my daughter in her professional debut and to collaborate in her development as an actor.

It is being described as a comedy that explores an intergenerational clash… the dad hates reggaeton and the daughter lives for it!

Long story short, the dad thinks that Bad Bunny’s lyrics and overall persona is violent and not a good influence for his little princess. This is all told as the father is going through a marital breakup, so he is not in a very good place. He seems to be the typical viejo gruñón. So the table is set for a good old fashioned telenovela-like plot with plenty of enredos.

As Nuevo Dia describes it, the show is about “A generational gap and resentment due to his divorce”. Sounds like one of those movies that Robert DeNiro has starred in recently.

The male protagonist not only takes on his own personal crusade against music, but also against technology and anything else that doesn’t fit into his narrow, conservative worldview. The cast also includes Agustin Rosario, Ile Nicole Rosario, Noelia Crespo, Ali Warrington and Deddie Romero.

The plot line is very similar to a real life story about a father who spoke out against the gender violence inherent in Bad Bunny’s lyrics… only for his daughter to ACTUALLY STAR in one of the raeggetonero’s music videos!

The poor man’s name is Pepo García and earlier this year he published a post on Facebook basically trashing Bad Bunny. Well, his daughter Natalia started a career in modeling and, lo and behold, she landed a great, star-making and profitable gig: the leading lady the video for the Bad Bunny song “Callaita”! Damn, las vueltas que da la vida, compas. Did Rosario draw inspiration from this real life event? BTW, Pepo García later retracted from his comments and wrote that the callaito should be him. Calladito te ves mas bonito!

How many Latino fathers and daughters can relate to this story? We guess many!

Reggaeton is a very controversial genre due to the explicit nature of some of the lyrics and the fact that it embodies some ideas of toxic masculinity and traditional gender roles that are frankly medieval (we hate to admit it!). So the plot might resonate with many families where parents are literally scratching their heads over the stuff that their kids listen too!

But we gotta remember that what was controversial a few years ago is no big deal now!

Yes, there was a time when Elvis’ hip thrusts were deemed as immoral, as un insulto a las buenas costumbres.

And let’s give Bad Bunny a break: he is actually pretty socially and politically engaged. Maybe the dad in the play can like him a little bit?

When things got candentes in the island around the resignation of the now former governor Ricardo Roselló, he even paused his music career to join the protests that attempted to make Roselló step down as his homophobic and sexist views were made public.

Bad Bunny wrote then in an Instagram post: “I am pausing my career. After [my concerts] my agenda was to fly back to Miami. But I’m canceling everything. I’m pausing my career because I don’t have the heart or mind to do music […] I’m going to Puerto Rico. I’m not going to turn my back on you. We have to continue taking the streets”. And well, his efforts alongside Residente and Ricky Martin, paid off.
