Denali foxx is Serving Mexicana Representation on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’

We’re only a few episodes into this latest season of RuPaul’s Drag Race and Denali Foxx has come through with plenty of Mexican representation. As one of the frontrunners, she has proudly worn stunning looks inspired by her heritage.

It’s Denali duck-walking as Quetzalcoatl for me.

On season 13 of Drag Race, Denali, who is also Jewish, is one of three Latina drag queens competing for the title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar.” The other Latinas are the self-proclaimed “Dominican Doll” Kandy Muse and Olivia Lux, who is of Puerto Rican descent.

Denali first represented her Mexican heritage during the “Trains for Days” runway challenge where she rocked a gown inspired by the Aztec deity Quetzalcoatl. When she wound up in the bottom that week, Denali got to prove herself as a lipsync assassin in that look.

In the most-watched Lip Sync for Your Life of the season on YouTube, Denali hit every beat of Crystal Waters’ “100% Pure Love.” She vogued and duck-walked down the runway. RuPaul didn’t even deliberate in announcing Denali as the winner of that lipsync.

Denali also served Día de los Muertos realness.

After back-to-back lip sync wins, Denali avoided having to lipsync last week when was she deemed safe thanks to her Día de los Muertos-inspired look. The challenge was the Bag Ball where the drag queens had to construct a lookout of handbag materials. Denali served “Como La Flor” realness with her colorful dress and headpiece that was adorned with flowers.

“I’m a Mexican, not a Mexi-cant,” Denali wrote in a post about the look. She gave herself a well-deserved pat on the back, adding, “Eso- and I can’t stress this enough, mamona.”

Denali is a proud Alaskan drag queen now based in Chicago.

Not only has Denali represented her Mexican heritage, but she’s also proudly repped other parts of her background. As the first queen born in Alaska to compete on the show, she entered the workroom in an ice skater outfit and ice skates. In her first Lip Sync for your Life, Denali became the first queen to lip sync with ice skates on.

Denali is currently based in Chicago, so she put together a special video highlighting the city’s drag scene. All Stars 5 winner Shea Couleé’s voice intros the “Chicago Drag Excellence” video that includes appearances from past Drag Race alums like Detox, Laila McQueen, The Vixen, and Dida Ritz. Denali’s season 13 sister Kahmora Hall also serves face to “100% Pure Love” in the fierce visual.

A Woman Saves A Dog During The Texas Snow Storm Using Tortillas

Texas recently dealt with one of the worst winter storms in its history. Millions were left without water and power for days and Sen. Ted Cruz was caught up in a scandal after being caught going on a Mexican vacation. One pup is catching everyone’s attention after being rescued thanks to tortillas.

One lucky dog in San Antonio was saved from the cold by a caring woman with tortillas.

Kristina Salinas-Labrador was out buying tortillas for her family on Thursday when she spotted a dog in the freezing cold in San Antonio, Texas. Instead of driving by, Kristin stopped her car and spent 30 minutes luring the dog to the warmth of her car using tortillas. Kristin told the WOAI reporter that he stopped to save the dog’s life because he was skinny and could likely die from the cold weather that crippled much of Texas.

According to her interview with WOAI, Kristin saved the dog because she felt like helping during the hard times Texans are facing.

“Dogs, they don’t know what’s going on; cats, pets, they don’t know what’s going on,” Kristin told the reporter. “So, we try to help them out – one dog at a time. I’m hoping the next person will stop, too, and help the different strays.”

This isn’t the first time that Kristin or her wife have picked up a stray animal.

Nicole Salinas-Labrador, Kristin’s wife, told NBC News that the dog’s name is now Taco. Nicole admitted that she and her wife often stop for stray dogs and cats when they see them while out and about. Nicole joked that her wife used her “Mexican ways” to get the dog in the car, according to NBC News.

The couple is taking care of Taco until they can find a forever home for the sweet pup.

“Hello everyone! Thank you for sharing and for your interest! He was scanned for chip and he doesn’t have one. And no one has still claimed him,” Nicole wrote in a comment under the Facebook post. “He is with me and my family for now. He is getting fully vetted today and making sure he is in perfect health. Anyone that is interested in adopting him feel free to PM me. This process will def take some time.. I do extensive background checks to make sure any stray that is in my care goes to the absolute best forever home. Any questions feel free to message me.”

President Joe Biden Ends Trump-Era Trans Military Ban

Former President Donald Trump and his administration have a long track record of attacking LGBTQ+ votes. One of the first attacks was to ban transgender people from serving in the military. Years later, President Joe Biden has reversed the hateful order.

President Joe Biden has ended the trans military ban.

Former President Trump left behind a trail of destruction and pain with his administration. One of the first LGBTQ+ attacks was banning trans people from joining and serving in the military. The policy, which was created via a tweet, caused unnecessary pain to trans military members both current and retired. Many lost benefits and others were discharged for being who they are.

The order is a welcomed change to the military.

“This is reinstating a position that previous commanders and — as well as the Secretaries have supported,” President Biden said about the order. “And what I’m doing is enabling all qualified Americans to serve their country in uniform, and essentially restoring the situation as it existed before, with transgender personnel, if qualified in every other way, can serve their government in the United States military.”

LGBTQ+ people and allies are celebrating the end of the discriminatory policy.

The policy banning trans members from the military served no purpose other than singling out people for who they are. For years, the military has accepted LGBTQ+ people and former President Trump’s anti-trans policy was damaging and unnecessarily harmful to servicemembers.

President Biden’s plan will tackle the legacy of disenfranchisement in three steps:

  • Directs the secretary of defense and secretary of homeland security to implement this order.
  • Immediately prohibits involuntary separations, discharges, and denials of reenlistment or continuation of service on the basis of gender identity or under circumstances relating to gender identity.
  • Requires an initial report from the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Homeland Security be made to the President within 60 days on their progress in implementing the directives and policy included in today’s Executive Order.
