Denali Foxx is Serving Mexicana Representation on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’

We’re only a few episodes into this latest season of RuPaul’s Drag Race and Denali Foxx has come through with plenty of Mexican representation. As one of the frontrunners, she has proudly worn stunning looks inspired by her heritage.

It’s Denali duck-walking as Quetzalcoatl for me.

On season 13 of Drag Race, Denali, who is also Jewish, is one of three Latina drag queens competing for the title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar.” The other Latinas are the self-proclaimed “Dominican Doll” Kandy Muse and Olivia Lux, who is of Puerto Rican descent.

Denali first represented her Mexican heritage during the “Trains for Days” runway challenge where she rocked a gown inspired by the Aztec deity Quetzalcoatl. When she wound up in the bottom that week, Denali got to prove herself as a lipsync assassin in that look.

In the most-watched Lip Sync for Your Life of the season on YouTube, Denali hit every beat of Crystal Waters’ “100% Pure Love.” She vogued and duck-walked down the runway. RuPaul didn’t even deliberate in announcing Denali as the winner of that lipsync.

Denali also served Día de los Muertos realness.

After back-to-back lip sync wins, Denali avoided having to lipsync last week when was she deemed safe thanks to her Día de los Muertos-inspired look. The challenge was the Bag Ball where the drag queens had to construct a lookout of handbag materials. Denali served “Como La Flor” realness with her colorful dress and headpiece that was adorned with flowers.

“I’m a Mexican, not a Mexi-cant,” Denali wrote in a post about the look. She gave herself a well-deserved pat on the back, adding, “Eso- and I can’t stress this enough, mamona.”

Denali is a proud Alaskan drag queen now based in Chicago.

Not only has Denali represented her Mexican heritage, but she’s also proudly repped other parts of her background. As the first queen born in Alaska to compete on the show, she entered the workroom in an ice skater outfit and ice skates. In her first Lip Sync for your Life, Denali became the first queen to lip sync with ice skates on.

Denali is currently based in Chicago, so she put together a special video highlighting the city’s drag scene. All Stars 5 winner Shea Couleé’s voice intros the “Chicago Drag Excellence” video that includes appearances from past Drag Race alums like Detox, Laila McQueen, The Vixen, and Dida Ritz. Denali’s season 13 sister Kahmora Hall also serves face to “100% Pure Love” in the fierce visual.

Even though she was recently eliminated from RuPaul’s Drag Race, Denali is creating waves online with her lip sync videos. In her latest visual, the Mexican-American drag queen tackles Kali Uchis’ viral hit “Telepatía.”

The “Latina que Patina” made her mark on Drag Race.

Denali, the self-proclaimed “Latina que Patina,” was competing on season 13 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. During her run on the show, she served plenty of moments that paid homage to her Mexican heritage, including a standout lip-sync dressed as Quetzalcoatl.

Denali, who is also of Jewish descent, finished in eighth place. We sadly missed out on a Denali and Valentina crossover moment because of that elimination. While we’re sure there will be an All-Stars placement in her future, she’s keeping her digital presence alive. On Denali’s YouTube channel, she’s done lip sync videos for Britney Spears’ “If U Seek Amy” and the Pussycat Dolls’ “When I Grow Up.”

Denali’s “Telepatía” video is everything.

Recently Denali released a video lip sync of Colombian-American singer Kali Uchis’ “Telepatía.” This is the perfect synergy of queer Latina power as Denali noted in her post. “Super thankful to Kali Uchis and her team at EMI Records for this opportunity!” she wrote. “Having had this song on repeat since it came out and it’s such an honor to promote for more queer Latinx queens.” Uchis is openly bisexual.

In the VHS-like visual, Denali is living her disco fantasy. There are moments that are reminiscent of Studio 54 and other stunning shots of the drag queen at the beach. Shanté, you stay!

Denali is not the only queer artist taking on Kali Uchis’ “Telepatía.” She retweeted the account @imirregulargirl who gives the sensual smash justice as well.

The Vatican Says Catholic Church Cannot Bless Same-Sex Unions After Supporting Them

The Catholic church has a long history of ostracizing and demonizing the LGBTQ+ community. Pope Francis seemed to be revolutionizing the Catholic church’s views on the community until saying the church cannot bless same-sex unions.

The Vatican has officially decreed that priests cannot bless same-sex unions.

Seemingly out of nowhere, The Vatican released a statement claiming that priests cannot bless same-sex unions. The announcement further claims that homosexuality is a sin and that God cannot bless sin. Furthermore, the decree from The Vatican determined that sexual orientation is a choice, which is archaic and hurtful thinking.

The Vatican’s claim that sexual orientation is a choice has been debunked.

The decree from The Vatican claims that by blessing same-sex unions, The Vatican would be blessing a “choice and a way of life that cannot be recognized as objectively ordered.”

Some try to claim that homosexuality is a choice yet that has been scientifically debunked. There are wide studies that show that genetics are likely at play when it comes to determining someone’s sexual orientation. The “gay gene” has been observed when studying brothers of differing sexual orientations.

The announcement brought up some of The Vatican’s long-discussed hypocrisy.

In 2019, it was reported that The Vatican invested heavily into the Elton John biopic “Rocketman.” The movie follows the life of Elton John and his journey through the music industry while coming to terms with his sexual orientation. The movie shows John struggling to be who he is very early in his career and the damage not having a proper support system could cause.

The Vatican’s decree goes against Pope Francis’ own comments from last year.

Last year, Pope Francis caught the world’s attention when he was caught on camera in a documentary. The pope spoke on same-sex unions and endorsed them.

“Homosexual people have the right to be in a family. They are children of God and have a right to a family,” Pope Francis said in a documentary. “Nobody should be thrown out or be made miserable over it. What we have to have is a civil union law—that way, they are legally covered. I supported that.”

Some clerics in the Catholic Church are pushing back against the latest decree and saying they will bless same-sex unions.
