Cardi B Tells Billionaire’s Stepson He’s Been Looking for ‘Clout’ From Sub Disappearance After He Critiques Her
Cardi B is speaking out against the stepson of missing Titanic submersible passenger Hamish Harding. Why this twist of events, you may ask? Harding’s stepson Brian Szasz, 37, got flak from social media after attending a Blink-182 concert Monday night during the search mission.
Although Szasz said at the time, “My family would want me to be at the [show],” Cardi B had many thoughts.
The rapper saw Szasz’s since-deleted social media post about attending the concert and took to Instagram Stories yesterday to share her thoughts. The “WAP” star spoke directly to Szasz: “You’re supposed to be at home sad, you’re supposed to be crying.”
After Cardi B’s call-out, Szasz responded that she is trying “to use the situation to exploit” their tragedy.
After Harding went missing on Sunday, his stepson attended a concert to help him through “difficult times”
As reported by CBS, missing sub-passenger Harding, who is now presumed dead, was a British businessman. Reportedly a billionaire, Harding was the chairman of Action Aviation, which sold aircrafts to many industries.
Harding held several Guinness world records. He also flew on Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin mission to space last year.
The businessman was one of five passengers aboard OceanGate’s Titan submersible to see the Titanic remains on Sunday. One hour and 45 minutes into their descent, hoping to get to almost 4,000 meters deep, the sub lost communication and was not heard from again.
According to The Mercury News, Harding’s stepson Szasz attended a Blink-182 concert on Monday night. He later allegedly wrote on Facebook that his mother, Linda Harding, made him remove the post for being “tone-deaf.”
Szasz captioned his photo at the concert with, “It might be distasteful being here but my family would want me to be at the Blink-182 show.”
“It’s my favorite band,” the 37-year-old explained. “Music helps me in difficult times.”
Social media swiftly reacted to his post, questioning the timing of going to a concert while his stepfather was missing in the sub.
It’s important to note that, according to a court filing obtained by Us Weekly, Szasz was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome at 15 years old. As per the outlet, Szasz’s lawyers said he was “socially stunted” and would “find friendships online” while defending him against online stalking charges in June 2021.
Cardi B responded to Szasz going to the Blink-182 concert, saying, “You’re supposed to be crying.”
Cardi B took to her Instagram Stories to voice what she thought of Harding’s stepson attending a concert as the rescue mission continued. “So one of the billionaires that’s missing,” she described. “His stepson is at a concert, a Blink-182 concert.”
“People are like, ‘What is he supposed to do? Be sad at the house? Is he supposed to go look for him himself?'”
The singer’s reply to those questions? “Yes, you’re supposed to be at the house sad. You’re supposed to be crying for me. You’re supposed to be right next at the phone waiting to hear any updates about me.”
At that point, the New York native dove into Harding’s billionaire status, saying she would “rather be broke” than for people not to mourn for her.
“Isn’t it sad that you’re a whole f**king billionaire and no one gives a f**k about you? Like, you’re missing and motherf**kers are ready to shake d**ks at concerts,” she said.
The “Bodak Yellow” rapper ended the message with, “That’s crazy. I would rather be broke and poor, but knowing that I’m loved.”
In another twist of events, Szasz responded to Cardi B on his own Instagram Stories, saying, “[Cardi B] has no idea what’s going on… She needs clout off other people’s suffering.”
He said she was attempting “to use the situation to exploit” their tragedy “like the news.” Describing, “They’re not like feeling sorry that my mom has to take care of two kids. Not really giving a f**k that my stepdad is probably, 99% chance that he’s dead.”
“That doesn’t matter, doesn’t care how we feel, just trying to… make games,” he said.
Szasz mentioned getting “hate mail” and people trolling. He finished his message with, “Cardi B, f**king grow up, get some class.”
Cardi B later wrote that people hate “spoiled brat billionaires” because they’re “desensitized”
Cardi B, though? Of course, she fired back. The star wrote on Twitter, “You [were] looking for clout all along, nobody knew who you were until you said that was [your] stepdad.”
“This is why people hate you spoiled brat billionaires y’all so [desensitized],” she wrote.
In another Instagram Story, Szasz said, “Believe it or not, I have about $100 to my name. I can’t go out to the ocean, I have a legal situation keeping me here as well.”
“Can’t get on a flight, I don’t have a passport. I was sitting here yesterday, watching the news for two days straight,” he explained. “I go to a Blink-182 show because I had a ticket.”
He described, “I was just listening to some of my all-time favorite songs just nodding my head and trying to get off the phone for two hours or so.”
“The submarine is stuck at the damn Titanic, there’s nothing I can do.”
That being said, as many Twitter users have noted, there’s more to the story. For one, using his since-deleted Twitter account, Harding’s stepson publicly flirted with a model right after tweeting for “prayers” for his family:
As one Twitter user put it, much of the situation — from the Titan sub passengers’ “inevitable fate” to this Cardi B interaction — is “crazy town.”
