Watch If You Dare: New ‘Wednesday’ Season 2 Teaser Promises A ‘Torturous Journey’
“Wednesday” fans rejoice: Netflix just dropped the spine-chilling show’s season two teaser, and it’s just as “torturous” as you could expect. While some fans feared the streamer would cancel the “Addams Family” spinoff show, the new creepy trailer finally put the rumors to rest. It’s a Nevermore world and we’re just living in it.
All about the hair-raising season two teaser
The teaser is fun, spooky, and slightly tongue-in-cheek, much like the show’s record-breaking season one. Delightfully-sinister scenes abound as actress Jenna Ortega narrates, “Over the past few weeks, I’ve been hunted, haunted, and mimicked millions of times across the internet.”
Interestingly enough, the teaser seems to parallel Wednesday’s real-life notoriety (such as those viral, goth TikTok dances inspired by Ortega’s iconic scene). All of us wanting to be just like Wednesday Addams is her idea of “pure torture,” meaning she actually loves it. As she looks at the screen, she tells all of us: “Thank you.”
The clip features Lady Gaga’s iconic 2011 song “Bloody Mary,” which reached an all-time-high this year because of a “Wednesday”-themed TikTok mashup trend. Now, Nevermore and Gagaland officially collided, and we couldn’t be more eerily-happy about it.
The teaser promises that “more misery is coming,” and officially announces that the “global phenomenon” is coming back. Is everyone already getting goosebumps, or is it just us?
Ortega and the showrunners speak out about season two
Season 1 showrunners Miles Millar and Alfred Gough told Netflix’s Tudum that they “can’t wait to dive headfirst into another season and explore the kooky, spooky world of Nevermore.”
Only catch? They need to “make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first.” As a blood-soaked portion of the trailer shows, it’s about to go down at Nevermore Academy.
The showrunners described season two as a continuation of Wednesday’s “torturous journey”– you’ve been warned! Meanwhile, Ortega told the outlet we can expect more of Wednesday sticking to her guns. “She’s not out to please anybody… which, as someone who used to be an immense people pleaser, I really respect.”
There’s no doubt many things added fuel to the fire about the show’s rumored cancellation prior to the teaser. For one, Amazon reportedly bought
Amazon acquired MGM, which produced “Wednesday,” leading many to fear it would affect production. Something else that didn’t exactly help, though? Netflix posting a short “Wednesday” teaser on Thursday that read “THE END.” Of course, fans (us included), freaked out.
Now that we know we’re undoubtedly getting a “Wednesday” season two, it’s time to get creative. For example, some fans are already petitioning new actors to appear on the show. One user thought up Camila Cabello as Wednesday’s older sister, while another imagined Lady Gaga as Nevermore Academy’s headmaster. Yes, please!
