The face mask continues to be a divisive matter in the United States. Video after video shows angry people trying to openly defy government orders and mandates. Some claim it is a violation of their rights, which it isn’t. Others just seem to want to do it for clout. Others just get violent, as Martin William Drew in Puerto Rico did.

A man from the mainland was in Puerto Rico and thought he could go to the grocery store without a mask.

Puerto Rico is part of a long list of American states, territories, and cities mandating the use of face masks. Of course, like all places that require masks, some people are not willing to step up and follow the health guidelines meant to help stop the spread of COVID. Martin William Drew tried and felt the immediate backlash.

Studies from around the world prove the effectiveness of wearing masks to stop the spread of COVID. In fact, a recent study showed that the U.S. could have COVID under control in one to two months if everyone wears their mask.

After being told to wear a mask, Drew spit on an employee’s face and subsequently got punched in the mouth.

Drew uploaded a video claiming to have been attacked with a golf club when trying to shop in the Econo. However, he conveniently leaves out that he spit in an employee’s face because he didn’t want to wear a mask. Tbh, most people on social media, while standing against violence, celebrated this action.

According to Univision, Drew was arrested by police and is due in court at a later date. Drew was asked to wear a mask after he was seen with the mask under his chin. That’s when he got aggressive, according to police, and spit in the employee’s face.

Just goes to show that it is easier and better to just wear your mask.

Not wearing a mask is quickly becoming a way to be shamed and booed by society on social media. The mask is one of the most effective ways to slow this virus and return to a semi-normal life so, please, wear a mask.
