The spooky sequel will premiere on Disney+ in 2022.

The upcoming film will see the Sanderson Sisters back to their normal schemes, this time in our current modern-day Salem. According to Variety, rumors, and plans for a revival of the film began to percolate in 2019. At the time, however, neither Midler, Parker, nor Najimy had been confirmed to star until now. For now, production for the film will begin this fall.

In a thrilling tweet about the news, beloved actress Bette Midler celebrated on Twitter with the post "Sistaaaahs! It's been 300 years… But we're BACK!"

While the original director behind Hocus Pocus, Adam Shankman, will not helm the film because of scheduling conflicts, he is set to executive produce. Variety reports that the director will be taking on the upcoming film Disenchanted a follow up to the 2007 movie "Enchanted" starring Amy Adams. Speaking about the film, Shankman told Variety that "As heartbroken as I am that I won't be able to direct my friends Bette, Sarah Jessica and Kathy in what is sure to be nothing short of a major event for Disney Plus due to scheduling conflicts, I couldn't be more pleased to be handing over the reins to Anne, who has brought so much laughter and joy into people's lives with her previous work."
