We have all seen the videos of people freaking out over mask requirements at different stores around the country. As COVID-19 continues to spread, Walmart will now require face masks at all of its 5,000 stores in the U.S.

Walmart and Sam’s Club will start requiring all customers to wear masks when shopping.

Walmart is joining a long list of companies requiring shoppers to wear facial coverings when shopping in their stores. The decision comes after cases continue to spike across the U.S. and health experts plead with the American public to take this seriously.

Americans have been battling each other over the necessity to wear face coverings to combat the virus. A recent study shows that the U.S. could have the virus under control in one to two months if Americans adhere to wearing face masks.

Walmarts announcement was met with amusement by some Twitter users.

There has been a resistant group of people who have really fought against any mandate that has been passed requiring face masks. It has been proven, by scientists around the world, that wearing the maks will protect people from contracting the virus.

Some are choosing a safer, more acceptable way to watch these interactions.

Social media is one place that will never let you get away with anything. That goes twice as hard now that people are trying to shame people who are putting other’s lives at risk by not wearing face coverings. Those videos have gone viral for months and people are getting ready for even more.

Walmart made the call to bring consistency to its stores.

“To help bring consistency across stores and clubs, we will require all shoppers to wear a face covering starting Monday, July 20,” Walmart US chief operating officer Dacona Smith and Sam’s Club chief operating officer Lance De La Rosa said in a blog post. “This will give us time to inform customers and members of the changes, post signage and train associates on the new protocols.”

Some state officials have created policies to protect the health of their residents while others have not. This has left a patchwork approach to COVID-19 that is not working. Walmart and Sam’s Club are changing that.
