Sen. Ted Cruz Faces Backlash Over Insensitive Tweet About Thanksgiving And Covid

Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas has been criticized for misleading the public on Covid. Last week, the Texan faced backlash after criticizing a Democratic senator for wearing a mask while inside the Senate. Covid cases are surging in all states with Texas among the worse, but Sen. Cruz will do anything to protect his Thanksgiving.

Sen. Ted Cruz is taking a big stand in the name of Covid community spread.

The week before Thanksgiving, Sen. Cruz posted a tweet implying his stance to gather for Thanksgiving. Health experts in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are urging Americans to avoid gatherings and traveling for the holiday season as cases spike to all-time highs.

“Right now, we’re alarmed, again, with the exponential increase in cases and hospitalists and death,” Dr. Henry Walke said in a press conference. “Amidst this critical phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, CDC is recommending against travel during the Thanksgiving period.”

The Republican politician is facing backlash for the insensitivity of the tweet.

Cases of the virus are surging as Americans tire of social distancing with no leadership or assistance from the federal government. Millions of Americans are being forced into renewed lockdown measures to prevent a post holiday surge as cases continue to climb. The U.S. has experienced an 18-day trend of more than 100,000 cases daily.

The U.S. needs to heed the science and experience in Canada. In October, Canadians gathered for Thanksgiving celebrations and it spelled disaster. Six weeks after the holiday, Canada broke Covid records and the country was faced with the worst of the outbreak.

The tweet is more upsetting to people from the senator’s homestate.

El Paso dealt with a devastating spike. The Texas county was hard hit as Covid surged leading to mobile morgues being packed with bodies of Covid victims. County officials were pleading with El Pasoans to do their part in making sure the virus doesn’t spread. Sen. Cruz’s tweet shows a lack of compassion for Texans suffering from the pandemic as Thanksgiving approaches.

Some Twitter users are pointing out Texas’ food crisis creating long lines for food banks.

Texas, which became the first state to record 1 million infections, has seen an increase in the need for food. According to CNN, The North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) gave out about 600,000 pounds of food for 25,000 people in the area. Millions are losing unemployment benefits after Covid and the lack of a federal response prompted mass layoffs across the nation in various industries, especially the hospitality industry.

We have to be vigilant as the holidays approach to protect our loved ones.

More than 250,000 people have died from Covid since the virus started to spread in the U.S. More than 12 million Americans have been diagnosed with the virus that Sen. Cruz dismisses. It is important to remember that you need to wear masks, social distance, and wash your hands to slow the virus’ spread. We are getting closer to a vaccine but we still have to put in the work to protect ourselves.

The Suicide Rate Of Retail Workers Sparks Trending Conversation On Reddit— “It’s unbearable.”

Despite their status as essential workers, retail employees have faced unbelievable amounts of pressure and abuse from the customers they serve. From facing indignant customers who refuse to wear masks to those who attempt to demean them for their work, it’s entirely safe to say that retail employees do not get paid enough for the jobs that they do.

A recent post on Reddit underlines this truth in some pretty shocking ways.

“I was very fortunate in my time in retail to only get three proper nutters.

I worked in the furniture department at Babies ‘R Us and a lady came in and asked if she brought in a sample of the furniture, could I identify it, match and and replace it?

I said I couldn’t, but I’d make an attempt to find it if it existed, but not to get her hopes up too much because we had a selection that rotated out pretty actively.

She seemed to think that was agreeable and then brought in an actual chip of wood (not a picture or a swatch) that was almost genuinely orange. However orange you could be without being painted that way.

All we had at the time was white, whitewash, a few brownish things and a reddish “cherry” brown. Nothing on the floor, so I looked through the special order catalog; nada.

She lost her mind and started swearing at me and called me deceitful and all kinds of other things.

The yelling attracted the attention of the assistant manager who stood there for about three seconds, long enough to go “Ah, this woman is batshit” and give me a sideways glance before saying, “____, I believe I can help this customer, can you do me a favor and go check on the Baby Italia stock in receiving?”

That wasn’t even specific enough to be actionable but I caught the hint, apologized to the woman for the misunderstanding and left.

Come to find out the chip wasn’t from baby furniture and wasn’t from our store. Amazingly, they actually found the thing based on other pieces she brought in which were marked, and found out it was from an old nightstand she bought in the ’70s (explains the orange).

That’s the burnout part for me. Not helping, not the confusion, not that the person has a genuine concern, but that they double-down on bad reactions unnecessarily while contributing nothing, and expect to not only be seen as reasonable, but that you’re a space alien for daring to deal with it in a professional manner based on your existing level of knowledge and training.

Hell, my department manager was like that. She never said a word to me, then brought me in to talk with both the manager and assistant manager, and complained my product fluency was lacking. At one point I said, “I wish you would have come to me first and let me know. I saw ____ the other day had a sash and a guidebook to learn about all the kinds of products, so I’ve felt kind of helpless, and when I asked you before about the best way to study up you said it was all by osmosis and experience.”

The managers cut things off right there because the first time I was finding out meant that there time was being wasted. Which meant she got pissed at me for being outed and claimed up and down she’d given me training materials before despite there being no evidence besides an assumption in her memory.”- credit_counselor

The thought of ending my life seemed amazing compared to facing life for another day.

Vaccines are rolling out across the country. People are getting their shots so life can finally start getting back to normal after a year of quarantining and social distancing. Mariah Carey let her fans join on her first shot and it became iconic.

Mariah Carey got her first shot of the vaccine and hit that whistle note.

More and more Americans are finally getting vaccinated to get the world back to normal. More than 160 million vaccines have been given in the U.S. and people are starting to see the results. Life is slowly getting back to normal for families who haven’t seen each other in years.

The singer was “excited and nervous a little bit” about getting the vaccine. Her demeanor showed just how impactful it is for people to do their part to get us back to normal.

True to form, Carey was in her camera-ready pose when she was getting ready.

People receiving the vaccine are told to keep their arm relaxed but Carey clearly isn’t made for that. How do you just turn off your star charisma?

It’s important to keep your arm relaxed while you are getting your vaccination to save you from the pain. If your arm is tense or in an awkward position, it is more likely to move during the jab, which can be painful. Listen to your nurses.

Some people are very curious how someone so young got the vaccine.

President Joe Biden announced that all states must make vaccine eligibility open to all adults by April 19. Some states are allowing people as young as 16 to get vaccinated. This is an accelerated deadline from the previously called for May 1. President Biden has worked hard to push the vaccination rate up and he has delivered on his promises for various vaccination deadlines.

People want to know if the vocal skills are a side effect of the vaccine.

There are a lot of conspiracy theories circulating about the vaccine. Some people believe that Bill Gates is microchipping them using the vaccine. It is a conspiracy that persists despite people definitively debunking the theory.

The world is eager to get back to normal and the vaccination rollout across the world is going to get us there. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is slowly releasing new guidelines about what fully vaccinated people are able to do.

For example, it is safe for fully vaccinated people to gather in small groups indoors without masks and social distancing. Fully vaccinated people can also fly on airplanes without much risk because of the effectiveness of the vaccine.
