If you thought tortilla chips were addictive, wait until you try this new viral snack that’s taking over TikTok! The trendy snack du jour is avocado chips, and people are raving about them.

Over the past few months, users have been posting videos of themselves making avocado chips to their TikTok accounts. And for good reason: avocado chips are low-carb, super easy and extremely flavorful.

The most-liked TikTok so far comes from foodie influencer and home chef @keto_country, whose account specializes in sharing keto recipes and hacks. In one of her most popular videos that racked up over two million views, @keto_country demonstrated how to make avocado chips with a mere five ingredients.

If you’re wondering why anyone would need to make chips out of an avocado, the answer is simple: these chips are a healthier alternative to traditional ones. And they fit in perfectly with a ketogenic lifestyle.

As @keto_country described so accurately, “Avocados are the perfect keto super food. They are high in healthy fats and packed with fiber, both which promote weight loss and metabolic health.” Not to mention, they’re delicious.

TikTok users are excited about this simple, healthy, low-carb recipe. “I am so glad you posted this!” wrote one user in the comments section. “I need a bread replacement and I hate the texture of keto bread! These are perfect!”

Here is @keto_country’s super simple recipe:

INGREDIENTS:

1 Ripe Avocado
1 ¼ c parmesan cheese
1 egg
Splash of lime or lemon juice
Everything but the Bagel Seasoning

DIRECTIONS:

First, preheat your oven to 350°F. Then, start off by cutting the avocado in half and removing the seed. Mash the avocado thoroughly until it is completely smooth and there are no lumps remaining. Add the egg and the parmesan cheese. Mix thoroughly.

Next, use a melon baller or a small spoon to scoop out balls of the avocado mixture. Drop the balls, evenly spaced, on a parchment-paper lined baking sheet. Flatten the balls until they are flat and “chip” shaped. Sprinkle desired seasoning on the unbaked chips.

Place the avocado chips into the preheated oven and bake at 350°F for 30 minutes. You know they’re ready when they’re slightly brown and crispy looking. Enjoy!

Users were quick to head to the comments section and share their own recipe modifications that made the snack even tastier.

“Ooh I bet a splash of tabasco would be amazing with these!” said one user. Others suggested substituting the Everything but the Bagel Seasoning with Tajin or adding a tablespoon of almond flour for a fluffier consistency.

To blow your mind even further, @keto_country posted an updated version of the recipe in… taco shell form.

We always knew avocados were the most versatile fruit ever, but as usual, TikTok takes things to a whole new level.
