Although we celebrate our queerness every single day, there’s something extraordinary about surrounding ourselves with others who just get us; our brothers, sisters, all our trans, non-binary, and LGBTQ+ siblings who know first-hand what it’s like to feel scared, to feel alone, to feel loved, and to feel free. It’s the sun kissing your face as you walk down the street smiling and holding hands with your friends, your family. To look around and see everyone orgullosamente expressing their most fabulous selves.

Pride is also about celebrating and remembering those who came before us, all those who made it possible for us to be rejoicing so openly to begin with like Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Rivera, Audre Lorde, Harvey Milk and so many others. Without them and their activism, we would not be here today and while we may still have a ways to go, it’s also important to acknowledge how far we have come.

The current pandemic may have put our plans on hold, but we’re still celebrating our Pride from home. To celebrate Orgullo, mitú has revamped and expanded its pride collection with everyone in mind. Here are some of the pieces you can now purchase from mitushop.com:

For the one who’s cute and wants everyone to know it.

Rumor has it that LMFAO’s song “I’m Sexy and I Know It” was made for them. They walk into a room and everyone turns, y les encanta! I wish I had your confidence. Stay extra, papi 😉

For the fabulous ones.

You know what you got and you’re not afraid to let everyone else know. Anyone walking down the street will be able to see just how Fabulosa you are!

For the bi-lingual baddie.

Outward expression doesn’t always indicate pronoun preference! It’s always important to make sure that we address everyone by their preferred pronouns, and these cool & comfy tees make it super easy to let the world know what those are.

Or the ones who want to teach others more than their pronouns. How about a little ASL while we introduce ourselves and make new friends? Win-win-win? I think yes.

For the proud papis.

There’s something about seeing parents walking down the street with a pride flag that just makes my heart burst and my eyes well up with tears. Does anyone else get the urge to run up to them and hug them? No? Just me? Okay.

For the ones who don’t want to make it a big deal.

We’re here and we’re queer. ¿Y qué? Unless you’re about to tell me how supportive you are, I really don’t think I’d like to hear what you have to say. Thank you, next.

For the ones who are celebrating at home.

mitú

AKA all of us! We may be stuck inside our homes, but at least we’re not inside the closet anymore. 😉  Let’s keep celebrating our pride in the best way we know- together, even if we’re physically separated.
