Chihuahua ‘Sweet Pea’ Is Reunited With Her Owner After Being Lost For 5 Years

Miracles do, indeed, happen. Just in time for the holidays, a Chihuahua who was reunited with her owner went viral because of the time it took for her to find her way back home: five years, specifically.

The Chihuahua, whose name is Sweet Pea, was discovered by the Humane Society on Tuesday afternoon in Covina–almost 30 miles away from her owner.

Sweet Pea went missing in Compton, California in 2015 and her owner, Ursula Lopez had long giver up hope of ever finding her. But a few days ago, Lopez received a call from the Inland Valley Humane Society that they had found Sweet Pea wandering around in Covina–almost 30 miles away.

The long-awaited reunion was captured on video by a local news station.

In the video, an animal handler brings out Sweet Pea as Lopez waits patiently on a nearby bench. Lopez appears to be emotional as Sweet Pea is brought closer to her. After the handler places Sweet Pea in Lopez’s arms, the reunion is complete.

When asked what it means to her to have Sweet Pea back, Lopez said: “It means the world to me.”

Sweet Pea was a little worse for the wear, looking a bit grey around her face, her nails long and haggard. But soon, the pup was packed into Lopez’s car, looking cozy and comfortable on a doggie bed.

Lopez’s parting words about Sweet Pea were truly heartwarming: “She’s ready to go home.” We bet she is.

The Inland Valley Humane Society was able to located Ursula Lopez because Sweet Pea had been microchipped.

Microchipping is a procedure in which a small radio-frequency transponder that is the size of a grain of rice is injected under the loose skin of your pet’s shoulder blades. Rescuers can locate a pet’s owner if the unique ID associated with the chip is registered in a national pet-recovery database.

Every year, roughly 10 million pets become lost from their owner. But if a pet is microchipped, they are approximately 50% more likely to be reunited with their owner.

We’re glad that Lopez has her doggie to snuggle up with during the holidays. We hope she holds on to her tight.

A Woman Saves A Dog During The Texas Snow Storm Using Tortillas

Texas recently dealt with one of the worst winter storms in its history. Millions were left without water and power for days and Sen. Ted Cruz was caught up in a scandal after being caught going on a Mexican vacation. One pup is catching everyone’s attention after being rescued thanks to tortillas.

One lucky dog in San Antonio was saved from the cold by a caring woman with tortillas.

Kristina Salinas-Labrador was out buying tortillas for her family on Thursday when she spotted a dog in the freezing cold in San Antonio, Texas. Instead of driving by, Kristin stopped her car and spent 30 minutes luring the dog to the warmth of her car using tortillas. Kristin told the WOAI reporter that he stopped to save the dog’s life because he was skinny and could likely die from the cold weather that crippled much of Texas.

According to her interview with WOAI, Kristin saved the dog because she felt like helping during the hard times Texans are facing.

“Dogs, they don’t know what’s going on; cats, pets, they don’t know what’s going on,” Kristin told the reporter. “So, we try to help them out – one dog at a time. I’m hoping the next person will stop, too, and help the different strays.”

This isn’t the first time that Kristin or her wife have picked up a stray animal.

Nicole Salinas-Labrador, Kristin’s wife, told NBC News that the dog’s name is now Taco. Nicole admitted that she and her wife often stop for stray dogs and cats when they see them while out and about. Nicole joked that her wife used her “Mexican ways” to get the dog in the car, according to NBC News.

“Hello everyone! Thank you for sharing and for your interest! He was scanned for chip and he doesn’t have one. And no one has still claimed him,” Nicole wrote in a comment under the Facebook post. “He is with me and my family for now. He is getting fully vetted today and making sure he is in perfect health. Anyone that is interested in adopting him feel free to PM me. This process will def take some time.. I do extensive background checks to make sure any stray that is in my care goes to the absolute best forever home. Any questions feel free to message me.”

Thanks to TikTok, the world is getting to know a bit more about Guillermo Hernandez and his pup, Chiquilina. The pair went viral on TikTok (and across the Internet) for their video outside a California carniceria: the terrier happily wagging its tail as it rides a rocking, coin-operated horse while its owner does a little dance to the backdrop of The Ronettes song, “Be My Baby.”

The video became an instant hit as it made its rounds around the Internet, racking up more than 8 million views and 2 million likes on TikTok alone. Now, Hernandez – the proud pup papi – is speaking out about his new found viral fame and giving us faith in humanity once again.

Guillermo Hernandez and his perrita, Chiquilina, have captured the heart of the Internet in new viral video.

A viral video has caused a sensation on TikTok and other social networks for showing a dog wagging her tail happily while riding a mechanical horse, while her owner watches on proudly.

The video was captured by TikTok user @frenchielife805, who saw the pair by chance when she was waiting in her car for the traffic light to change at a nearby intersection. “I go crazy for animals. I have two dogs that are like my babies,” confessed this mother and proud owner of two French bulldog dogs in an interview with the Santa Maria Times.

The video is truly what we all needed right now: pure amor.

Within hours of being posted online, the video blew up and the world came to know Guillermo Hernandez, 53, and Chiquilina, his 10-year-old Terrier cross dog that he has had since she was a puppy.

“I love her more than my life,” Hernandez told the Santa Maria Times, an emotion that many pet owners can identify with. “She is my doctor, my baby, my therapist,” he added.

A native of Michoacán, Mexico, Hernandez moved to the city of Santa Maria in 1985 and worked throughout the state of California in the construction industry for a long time until he was declared disabled by law and unable to continue performing such intense work. Now, he spends his days biking with his Chiquilina up on his head or hanging out with his friends outside the spot where they went viral.

The pair are well known in the area for their loving relationship.

Consuelo Valle, the owner of the shop where they were filmed, told the Santa Maria Times that “he loves his dog very much, he considers her as his family. She is always riding on his shoulder or being carried in his basket. He buys her popsicles, treats and ice cream. He talks to her and asks her what flavor of lollipop she wants.”

Both the TikToker who filmed their loving relationship and Valle said that the man’s incredible relationship with his dog raised their spirits and encouraged them to take better care of their own pets.

“The way in which he is happy with his dog, teaches us that we can all be happy in many different ways,” remarked Valle. While the TikToker @frenchielife805 said although has no idea why their video became went so viral, what she is sure of is that so far in the pandemic, people are always looking for any reason to smile.
