Covid has forced about 8 million Americans below the poverty line over the last eight months. Congress had been in gridlock for months trying to iron out a deal to provide relief. After months of negotiating, Republicans were able to push through a bill that offers Americans a $600 stimulus check and people are stunned.

Congress has finally approved another Covid stimulus relief package.

Unfortunately, it is reminding people of how little the federal government has done to help Americans survive a devastating pandemic. The government has given the American public $1,200 and approved another $600 during the eight months. According to Statista, the average rent in the U.S. is more than $1,400 leaving people with less money than they need to pay their rent. States are going back on lockdown as the virus surges again and millions of families are left without help. At least we have humor, right?

People immediately compared the new stimulus checks to the abysmal Fyre Fest meals.

Talk about a full circle moment. We all watched as people on an island were bamboozled and left with nothing despite paying money to be at the event. Now, we are all being bamboozled and given nothing from the federal government despite paying more taxes than the richest Americans and corporations.

#LetThemEatCake began to trend as people took out their frustration with humor.

Americans are tired and desperate. The economy has been dragging along and working Americans are being left to struggle the most. There have been reports that the wealthiest Americans walked away with the most with PPP loans. The unemployment rate remains significantly higher than it was in February before the pandemic shuttered much of the economy. The steady decrease in unemployment claims is stabilizing and paints a grim picture of a stubborn unemployment rate above 6 percent.

People are comparing Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to Marie Antoinette.

Sen. McConnell was the person standing in the way of the bill claiming there was no time to waste. When Democrats sent a bill with $1,200 for Americans, Sen. McConnell pushed back and stalled negotiations until the number was dropped and extra unemployment benefits cut as well.

Americans deserve more and all eyes are on the Senate races in Georgia to bring some change to the Senate.

Two Senate seats are up for grabs and if Democrats win, they will control the House and the Senate. The government would be run by Democrats as they try to find a way out of the Covid disaster Americans have been living in since March.
