Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Response To GOP House Candidate’s ‘Dumb Blonde’ Joke Will Leave You Breathless

Dumb blonde jokes. They’re overwrought, trite, and pretty outdated. So it’s no surprise that one that came straight from the mouth of a GOP House candidate and directed at Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez didn’t go over so well.

GOP House candidate Marjorie Taylor Greene attempted a joke at Ocasio-Cortez’s expense on Twitter Monday and it failed miserably.

Greene, whose Georgia campaign is being supported by Donald Trump, attempted to hit at AOC’s intelligence on Monday in a tweet.

“As a blonde woman, I would like to take a moment to thank Congresswoman @AOC. She has single handily [sic] put an end to all ‘dumb blonde’ jokes. Blondes everywhere appreciate your service and your sacrifice!” Greene tweeted.

In response, Ocasio-Cortez retweeted Greene, writing, “Don’t worry Mrs. Greene, I completely understand why you need to swing + miss at my intellect to make yourself feel better. You seem to have some trouble spelling your own insults correctly. Next time try ‘single-handedly,’ it’ll work better.”

She signed off her tweet writing “Good luck writing legislation!”

It’s not the first time Greene has come for AOC and failed.

Greene attempted and failed to get under AOC’s skin earlier this month.

Facebook.com

In September, the candidate shared a photo of herself holding a rifle next to images of AOC and other Democratic lawmakers Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib to her Facebook page.

She captioned the post “Squad’s worst nightmare.” It was soon removed by Facebook who cited violations of its policies.

It didn’t take long for AOC’s supporters to strike back at Green to defend the congresswoman.

“Those who are jealous and envious of others typical attack those whom they envy because they need to feel important and try to gain some attention for themselves,” one user commented in the thread. “You are where you are @AOC because of your work and dedication. Mrs Greene knows she can’t compete so she attacks.”

According to People, “Greene has a track record of embracing false stories publicized by QAnon, a conspiracy theory-fueled group which alleges there’s a group of Democratic pedophiles operating around the country.”

Marco Rubio Writes Letter Asking For TPS For Venezuelans After Republicans Voted Against It

The Trump administration is letting Temporary Protected Status expire for hundreds of thousands of people. A lot of these people have been here for years and have started families and businesses. Republicans voted against TPS for Venezuelans so Sen. Marco Rubio is now asking Trump to do something about it.

Sen. Marco Rubio wrote a letter to President Trump asking for TPS for Venezuelans.

It is a break from the usual tactic of ignoring TPS needs in Florida by Haitians, Hondurans, and Salvadorans. These people are at risk of losing their TPS after the Trump administration decided to let those protections expire. Venezuelans started fleeing the South American country when the economy started to collapse. Many of them have settled in South Florida.

People immediately started to call Sen. Rubio out for his glaring inaction for years.

Venezuelan nationals have been coming to the U.S. for years to escape the terrifying situation in Venezuela. An economic downfall led to millions of Venezuelans going without food, school, medicine, and other necessities. The crisis was an international fascination as Venezuelans took to the streets and were killed for protesting against their government.

Senate Republicans refused to vote on a bill last year to provide TPS to Venezuelans.

In August 2019, Senate Republicans had the chance to vote on a bill that would have protected Venezuelans living in the U.S. A bill in the Democrat-led House passed but the Senate bill stalled because of Senate Republicans. The failure by the Senate to pass the bill has left Venezuelans vulnerable to deportation back to the country they fled.

“Not this week, I don’t anticipate movement on it,” Rubio told the Miami Herald back then. “I anticipate hopefully getting the administration to do something. That’s what we’ve been working on behind the scenes here, we’ve made a little progress on it. We have 17 votes already scheduled this week, a bunch of nominees, the spending bill, the veto override. The votes this week have already been scheduled.”

During this time, the Trump administration has quietly been deporting Venezuelans back.

Venezuelans nationals have been deported back to President Nicolás Maduro’s brutal regime. With no economic prospects, the deportations are sending people to their deaths as one in three Venezuelans aren’t getting enough food. This is just one of the many issues compounded on the Venezuelan people after years of economic and political turmoil.

Venezuelans are also pointing out how Sen. Rubio waited until after Amy Coney Barrett to fight for TPS.

Senate Republicans recently confirmed Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court. The confirmation was rushed to secure a conservative majority on the court and went against the wish of the American people. A majority of Americans preferred that the Senate wait until after the election.

There are four days left until the elections and every vote matters. Make sure you get out there and make your voice heard.

We have just a few days left before the upcoming presidential election and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is using every moment she has to ensure we end up on the right side of history. In her latest magazine feature, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez graced the cover of Vanity Fair wearing red lipstick, some amazing pantsuits, and baring her honest political opinions.

Dressed in a white, double-breasted suit by NY-based label Aliétte, Ocasio-Cortez also condemned revelations that Donald Trump had only paid $750 in federal income taxes.

Ocasio-Cortez featured on Vanity Fair’s November cover armed with red lipstick and thoughts about the future of our country and her career.

Vanity Fair’s cover story examines AOC’s first term and re-election for New York’s 14th congressional district. It also takes a deep look into the racist and sexist attack the congresswoman has endured while in office as well as her pursuits to champion Senator Bernie Sanders.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, Ocasio-Cortez explained that she would “wake up in the morning and literally get a stack of pictures that were forwarded by Capitol police or FBI. Like, ‘These are the people who want to kill you today.’” But it’s not just private citizens that are attacking AOC and the freshman progressive lawmakers Ayanna Pressley, Rashida Tlaib, and Ilhan Omar who were members of “the squad.”

AOC has repeatedly been attacked by Donald Trump on all of his platforms.

“There was a time where the volume of threats had gotten so high that I didn’t even know if I was going to live to my next term,” Ocasio-Cortez explained. “Their sisterhood and their friendship, it’s not some political alliance. It’s a very deep, unconditional human bond.”

Now, Ocasio- Cortez says the election between Trump and Joe Biden will make the difference between “two countries.” The former result meaning that she “cannot honestly look [her district, which includes parts of The Bronx and Queens] in the eye and tell them that they will be safe.”

“I don’t know if I’m really going to be staying in the House forever, or if I do stay in the House, what that would look like,” she explained. “I truly make an assessment to see if I can be more effective. And so, you know, I don’t know if I could necessarily be more effective in an administration, but, for me that’s always what the question comes down to.”

Beyond her interview, AOC made some pretty powerful statements with her suit.

Like many women with political statements to make in history, AOC wore the color white as a symbol of hope and resistance. Similar to, Shirley Chisholm who wore white when she became the first Black woman to be elected to Congress, and Hillary Clinton who wore the color during her run for president, AOC wore white to make a statement. Just as she has in the past. You might remember that in January of 2019, AOC wore all-white as she was sworn into Congress.

“I wore all-white today to honor the women who paved the path before me, and for all the women yet to come,” she tweeted. “From suffragettes to Shirley Chisholm, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the mothers of the movement.”
