‘Lo Siento BB,’ Bad Bunny Goes Private on Instagram and Writes Ominous Twitter Bio
It’s no secret Bad Bunny is one of the most recognizable faces in the world right now. As the most streamed artist yet again, the “Moscow Mule” star has done everything from recreating Elvis Crespo’s “Suavemente” video, to starring in a movie with Brad Pitt, to headlining a record-breaking world tour. However, fast-forward to 2023, and the “Después De La Playa” singer has run into rough waters. After his recent phone fiasco, Bad Bunny’s social media moves may show he wants to lay low until further notice.
Bad Bunny’s latest social media moves come after his phone controversy
It was all anyone could talk about last week: Bad Bunny threw a fan’s phone into open water after she asked him for a selfie in La Romana, Dominican Republic. While El Conejo Malo has been vocal about his right to privacy in the past, many still found his behavior shocking. Sure, countless hilarious TikTok memes about the moment were born, but others said the act rubbed them the wrong way.
One Twitter user explained, “Remember if [your fans] weren’t there you would never be where you are.” On the other hand, some users applauded the “Callaíta” singer for defending his boundaries: “If somebody invaded my personal space, I’d do the same. King.”
Whatever side of the controversy you’re on, it’s clear #phonegate shook the world and surely gave El Conejo Malo even less of what he really wants — privacy. Now, even as he still heads the media cycle, Bad Bunny seems to be taking his iconic track “Solo De Mí” very seriously.
Fans are scratching their heads at the singer’s Instagram and Twitter accounts
For one, the singer recently went private on Instagram. Of course, with almost 45 million followers, much of the world will still have access to his posts and stories. Still, the move is unexpected, and might show Bad Bunny needs some time to himself (and his millions of fans?).
Even more cryptic, Bad Bunny changed his Twitter bio to “Me van a extrañar…” or, “You will miss me.” Going even further than his Instagram move, the star’s Twitter message shows he is most likely going to disappear for a while — at least from social media.
Over on Twitter, fans can’t stop reacting to the news. While some are saddened, saying they will “miss him too,” others are already meme-ifying the moment:
While Bad Bunny’s social media hiatus is probably partly linked to the phone controversy, he already announced a temporary break from the music industry throughout 2023. He told Billboard, “I’m taking a break. 2023 is for me, for my physical health, my emotional health to breathe, enjoy my achievements.”
