Racist Realtor Wrote ‘I Hope Trump Deports You’ on a Bill—Now She’s Out of a Job
Stephanie Lovins was having dinner at Cazuelas Mexican Restaurant & Cantina in Columbus, Ohio. When she got the bill, she refused to leave a tip and wrote “I hope Trump deports you!!!” on the check. The internet did what it does best, and people rallied behind the server who got the message. In no time, the world knew Lovins as a racist realtor and demanded justice.
Stephanie Lovins left a hateful message on a restaurant bill, and it is not working out for her
According to social media posts, the man who received the note is a disabled veteran and a United States citizen. Racial profiling is nothing new, but the callous and emboldened statement is a shocking reminder of the times. The federal government has promised mass deportations, and the rhetoric has filtered down to everyday U.S. citizens.
The message, written in the tip line, read: Zero! You suck! I hope Trump deports you!!!”
Enraged social media users called for accountability after seeing the message. Calls to identify Lovins grew, and the internet sleuths did their thing. It wasn’t long until the world knew who Lovins was and what she looked like.
Honestly, it is baffling that people would continue to do things thinking the internet won’t expose them. We have seen a lot of people get exposed for being racist, homophobic, and xenophobic.
The racist realtor desperately tried to distance herself from her own words
Shortly after the note became public, Lovins took to social media to claim she was the victim of a scam. Lovins tried claiming that someone stole her credit card. She was desperate to throw the scent off of herself to preserve her reputation and job.
Cazuelas Mexican Restaurant & Cantina marketing manager Fabio Oribio confirmed Lovins’s identity with CCTV footage. The restaurant confirmed that Century 21 realtor Lovins is the woman behind the message.
The saga of Lovins writing the note, refusing to stand on business when confronted, and spinning a tale of fraud is par for the course. It should be understood and common knowledge that things like this will always hit the internet. Once they do, it is only a matter of time before there is justice and accountability.
“We are aware of the situation with the agent in question. Hate has no place within the Century 21 brand, and we are taking this very seriously,” reads a statement from Century 21, according to the New York Post. “After investigating the situation and connecting with the respective broker, as all companies affiliated with the Century 21 brand are independently owned and operated, we can confirm that this agent is no longer affiliated with the brand.”

A GoFundMe has been set up to help Ricardo after the incident with the racist realtor. So far, more than $30,000 has been donated. People are coming together to rebuke this kind of language. There is growing anti-immigrant sentiment right now and a growing resistance to it.
Xenophobia has become a major culture war and social issue in the U.S. Politicians have campaigned on the false narrative that immigrants bring danger to communities. People are emboldened to impersonate federal immigration authorities to terrorize people. Mass raids and threats have infiltrated middle schools, leading to the suicide of a 6th-grade student in Texas.
Growing xenophobic rhetoric is dangerous. Calling it out is a civic duty to protect your fellow human.
