Daddy Yankee has been in a public legal battle and divorce from his estranged ex-wife, Mireddys González. The couple, who was together for 30 years, might finally be reaching an end to the public divorce. A judge recently sided with González and her sister, and the drama might finally come to a close.

Mireddys González, Daddy Yankee’s estranged ex-wife, got a victory in her legal battle with the singer

Daddy Yankee and González have been locked in a legal battle since December. Daddy Yankee filed a lawsuit against González and her sister, claiming financial misdoings. He claims they funneled $100 million from corporate accounts to personal accounts. The money came from El Cartel Records and Los Cangris, Inc. According to the musician’s legal team, the transfers occurred without Daddy Yankee’s authorization or knowledge.

According to EFE News, Judge Anthony Cuevas of the Court of First Instance of San Juan responded to a petition from Daddy Yankee’s attorneys. The sisters were due to be deposed confidentially per Daddy Yankee’s request. Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, Daddy Yankee’s given name, wanted to ensure certain documents were turned over. Judge Cuevas dismissed the petition to depose the sisters, claiming that all the information already turned over was sufficient.

“The management letter, signed under oath by the defendants, includes all known information about pending matters and additional instances of the management of the corporations under their presidency. The information provided therein, under oath, contains all that is necessary for the plaintiff to continue with the management of the corporate entities,” read the court documents, according to Metro News.

Daddy Yankee is now in control of his music empire

The lawsuit sought to ensure a smooth transition of control of the companies from González. Judge Cuevas iterated his belief that the documents turned over satisfied the original request from the singer. González retained the services of Colón Miró, Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán’s former lawyer, who facilitated the document handover.

“After all, the main purpose has been that corporate entities can continue to operate amid a correct transition. That is, to prevent the change of command from paralyzing operations and causing economic or contractual losses, which could affect other corporate entities,” Judge Cuevas ruled.

The resolution comes after Daddy Yankee’s legal team claimed the sisters hadn’t turned over all the requested documents. This latest decision from the judge officially ends the lawsuit with Daddy Yankee in control of his music empire.

The whole divorce has been messy and dramatic

Daddy Yankee broke the news of the divorce on social media. The news came as a shock to fans, especially because of the public nature of the announcement on Instagram.

Jesaaelys Ayala, Daddy Yankee’s daughter, broke her silence earlier this year. In her YouTube video, she fully laid out all of the chisme of her parents’ divorce, including how blindsided everyone was. Jesaaelys didn’t hold back. She called her dad out, claiming that she and her mom learned about the divorce with everyone else.
