Natti Natasha Talks Being a Former Undocumented Immigrant in New Documentary: I Never Thought I Had To Go Through Humiliations
Dominican singer Natti Natasha isn’t holding anything back in her new Amazon Prime docu-series, “Everybody Loves Natti.”
The “Ram Pam Pam” singer talked to mitú about why she decided to go public with her relationship with Raphy Pina, living through her pregnancy in the midst of a pandemic, her experience as an undocumented immigrant in the United States and being a pioneer with all-female collaborations in Reggaeton.
“Everybody Loves Natti” shows a personal side of Natti Natasha like we’ve never seen her before.
It’s safe to say that for all of us, 2020 had many ups and downs, and Natti was not exempt. The Amazon Prime docu-series, “Everybody Loves Natti” catches the singer at some of the most pivotal times of her life, like revealing her relationship with her manager Raphy Pina to the world and announcing her pregnancy, all while working on her new album “Nattividad.”
As someone that has been private about her personal life, Natti’s documentary reveals the truth about her story: “I need to tell my fans how it was, and the best way of telling them is like this, with ‘Everybody Loves Natti’. Everybody needs to learn more about Natalia Gutierrez,” she says.
On “Everybody Loves Natti,” the star shares an up-close-and-personal look at her family life, living with Raphy Pina and his kids and their close relationship to Daddy Yankee.
One of the few things Natti wanted to make clear on the documentary was to show other women that they can achieve their goals, even when they’re pregnant. The singer made her dream come true of performing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, with her baby bump on full display.

In the docu-series, Natti Natasha shared her experience as an undocumented immigrant when she first moved to the United States.
Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Natti knew that if she wanted to make it in music, she had to make it big in the United States. Like many of us, she learned to speak English through music. “I used to listen to Lauryn Hill so much, her voice was just hypnotizing for me,” she shares.
In her 20s, she moved to New York and tried to make ends meet as an undocumented immigrant. Natti always had a feeling that if she worked hard for what she wanted, she could be successful. She just had to step out of her comfort zone, which was the Dominican Republic at the time.
Living as an undocumented immigrant ultimately shaped her journey toward success. “It was so crazy, and it was very tough. I never thought I had to go through humiliations, or anything because I was an immigrant. I learned a lot, for sure, but it made me work more, and it made me appreciate so much what I have today. That’s one of the keys about being successful, understanding that you came from nothing,” she shares.
