Marco Rubio believes there is something out there…and he thinks Americans should know about it. Lately, the Cuban-American Florida senator has been making headlines for calling for the pentagon to declassify information about UFOs.
Senator Rubio made an impassioned appearance on “60 Minutes” to discuss the Senate’s sudden renewed interest in UFOs.
The senate’s renewed interest in UFOs started with some Navy pilots reporting that they saw a strange object hovering over the Atlantic ocean and then lowering itself into the water before coming back up. This event happened every day for “at least a couple of years.” No one ever discovered what it was. But now, the Senate is concerned.
“I want us to take it seriously and have a process to take it seriously,” Senator Marco Rubio told “60 Minutes”. “I want us to have a process to analyze the data every time it comes in. That there be a place where this is cataloged and constantly analyzed, until we get some answers. Maybe it has a very simple answer. Maybe it doesn’t.”
This isn’t the first time that Senator Rubio has asked the U.S. government to get honest about UFOs.
In December, when he was still the acting head of the Senate Intelligence Committee, he was asking the Pentagon to declassify reports about unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP). The Senate created a task force to deal with UFOs called Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATP). AATP is now the “UAP task force”.
The UAP task force is dear to Senator Rubio’s heart. In June of 2020, Rubio asked the Pentagon to create a declassified report about UFOs for the American public because “information sharing….across the intelligence community” was “inconsistent.”
Former director of national intelligence John Ratcliffe explained these UFOs as follows: “…objects that have been seen by Navy or Air Force pilots, or have been picked up by satellite imagery, that frankly engage in actions that are difficult to explain, movements that are hard to replicate, that we don’t have the technology for, or traveling at speeds that exceed the sound barrier without a sonic boom.”
Senator Rubio acknowledged that other senators aren’t as interested in UFOs as he is.
“Some of my colleagues are very interested in this topic and some kind of, you know, giggle when you bring it up,” he said. “But I don’t think we can allow the stigma to keep us from having an answer to a very fundamental question.”
Well, soon we’ll know for sure. Or, we’ll know as much as the government does. The pentagon is going to release its report on everything they know about UFOs in the next six weeks.
