Organizers Hire Mariachis To Play In Front of Ted Cruz’s House After Fallout From Cancun Vacation

You know the old saying: “If Ted Cruz can’t go to Mexico, bring Mexico to Ted Cruz.” At least we think that’s how the saying goes.

After catching major blowback from both sides of the aisle for going on vacation when his state was in crisis, some Texans don’t feel like accepting Sen. Cruz’s apology.

On Sunday, a Texas man hired a mariachi band to play in front of Ted Cruz’s house.

A crowd of Cruz’s neighbors gathered around the band while they played beautiful traditional mariachi songs. A group of protestors stood in front of the band, holding up signs that read “Cruz’s lives cost lives” and “Smash fascism!”

As a recap, Ted Cruz drew the ire of the entire country when he left a snow-drenched Texas to vacation in Mexico while his constituents were dying. According to reports, an estimated 32 Texans have died due to the freezing temperatures and continuous power outages in the state.

Once his trip went public, Cruz quickly returned home and placed the blame on his school-age daughters.

“It’s unfortunate, the fire storm that came from it. It was not my intention,” he told ABC13. “In saying yes to my daughters to somehow diminish all the Texans that were going through real hardship.”

Later, texts between Cruz’s wife and their neighbors were leaked. The texts showed his wife, Heidi Cruz, describing their house as “FREEZING” and asking the group if anyone was up for an impromptu trip to Cancun. She proposed they all stay at the Ritz-Carlton.

The man that organized the protest, Bryan Hlavinka, tweeted out a video of the protest with the caption: “There was a little fiesta in front of la casa de @tedcruz today.”

He posted another video of the band arriving at Senator Cruz’s house. “Just a typical Sunday. Mariachi band in tow,” said Hlavinka. “On our way to Ted Cruz’s house because he feels so bad about missing his vacation.”

Another similar page raising money for a Thursday mariachi visit to Ted Cruz’s house was also recently posted on GoFundMe. The description of the fundraiser is not without its fair share of sarcasm.

“Senator Cruz, being an amazing dad, dropped off his family in Cancun in the middle of a major crisis and came back to Texas to continue serving his constituents,” wrote the page’s organizer, Adam Jama. “We want to thank Senator Cruz for his leadership and pay for an amazing Mariachi band to perform for him. No one should go to Cancun and not listen to Mariachi.”

Five Migrant Girls Were Found Left Alone And Abandoned In The Texas Heat

This past March, according to El Pais, migrants crossed the Rio Grande at an all-time high not seen in the past 15 years. US government reports underlined that a total of 171,000 people arrived at the southern border of the United States in March. Eleven percent were minors who made the journey by themselves.

Reports say that this vulnerable group will continue to grow in size with recent shifts in the Biden administration child immigration policies. Five migrants girls recently found by the river recently became part of this group.

An onion farmer in Quemado recently reported that he found five migrant girls on his land.

The girls were each under the age of seven, the youngest was too small to even walk. Three of the girls are thought to be from Honduras, the other two are believed to have come from Guatemala. Jimmy Hobbs, the farmer who found the girls, said that he called the Border Patrol gave the children aid by giving them water and food and putting them in the shade.

“I don’t think they would have made it if I hadn’t found them,” Hobbs told US Rep. Tony Gonzalez (R-Texas) in a New York Post. “Because it got up to 103 yesterday.”

“My thoughts are that it needs to stop right now. There are going to be thousands. This is just five miles of the Rio Grande,” Hobbs’ wife added in their conversation with Gonzalez. “That’s a huge border. This is happening all up and down it. It can’t go on. It’s gonna be too hot. There’ll be a lot of deaths, a lot of suffering.”

“It is heartbreaking to find such small children fending for themselves in the middle of nowhere,” Chief Border Patrol Agent Austin Skero II explained of the situation in an interview with ABC 7 Eyewitness News. “Unfortunately this happens far too often now. If not for our community and law enforcement partners, these little girls could have faced the more than 100-degree temperatures with no help.”

According to reports, the Customs and Border Protection stated that the five girls will be processed and placed in the custody of the Department of Health and Human Services.

Sen. Ted Cruz Fell Asleep While President Biden Spoke About Immigration

On Wednesday night, President Joe Biden gave a speech to the joint session of Congress. Biden’s speech covered everything from gun control, to COVID-19, to immigration reform, to his new $1.8 trillion “families plan”. But one person, in particular, didn’t seem to care about any of it. That person, of course, was Ted Cruz.

When President Joe Biden was in the middle of speaking about the current immigration crisis going on, the camera panned to Ted Cruz who appeared to be nodding off.

Joe Biden, speaking on immigration, was saying, “If you actually want to solve a problem, I’ve sent a bill to take a close look at it,” but Rafael Cruz, apparently, wasn’t awake to hear about the problem that needed to be solved. And it wouldn’t be the first time Cancún Cruz checked out when facing a crisis.

“Look, immigrants have done so much for America during this pandemic and throughout our history,” Biden continued, while Cruz was snoozing. “The country supports immigration reform. We should act. Let’s argue over it. Let’s debate over it. But let’s act.”

Twitter quickly exploded when they saw that Rafael Cruz was falling asleep. The hashtag #TedSnooze started to trend almost immediately.

“Since @tedcruz lives in Texas and Biden is talking about exactly the immigration issue he and his constituents scream about, could Ted stay awake for just a minute or two?” wrote one angry Twitter user.

“Daydreaming about being in Cancún and screwing his constituents over again,” wrote another.

But some weren’t so convinced that Cruz’s sleepiness was authentic. After all, this is a man who isn’t afraid to engage in theatrics to keep the spotlight on him. “My first & persistent thought seeing the pics: ‘That’s someone pretending to sleep to be a jerk [because] he has nothing better to offer. Troll,'” wrote one skeptical Twitter user.

Later, when he appeared on Fox News to recap Biden’s speech, Cruz wanted to make sure that the entire nation knew what he thought of Biden’s speech: boring.

“You could sum up tonight’s speech in three words: boring but radical,” he said to Sean Hannity. “The speech by design was calm and dulcet tones. I challenge you to remember a single line from the speech.”

Since then, Ted Cruz has been retweeting images of him “sleeping” during Biden’s speech like it somehow proves how “boring” Biden’s speech was. Cruz’s behavior lends credence to the theory that he was, in fact, faking his sleepiness.

Based on Sen. Ted Cruz’s past shenanigans, we wouldn’t put it past him to have pretended to fall asleep on Wednesday just to keep the headlines revolving around him. In the end, that’s what’s most important to him.
