Middle School Girl Commits Suicide After Classmates Threaten to Call ICE
An 11-year-old girl in Texas committed suicide this week after classmates harassed her. The young girl, Jocelynn Rojo Carranza, was the victim of bullying with classmates threatening to call Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The suicide has devastated her family and community, and they are demanding answers from the school.
A young girl died following relentless bullying by classmates
Rojo Carranza was in the sixth grade at Gainesville Intermediate School in Gainesville, Texas, 70 miles north of Dallas. Her death has shaken her mother, who was unaware of the bullying she was facing in school.
According to Marbella Carranza, her mother, classmates threatened to call ICE on her family. Her classmates taunted her about being left alone if her parents were deported.
In an interview with Univision, Marbella shared that her daughter had gone to school officials on multiple occasions about the bullying. Despite the calls for help, the school is accused of doing nothing to protect Jocelynn. Instead, Jocelynn met with a school counselor to help her, but no action was taken.
Jocelynn spent a week in the hospital after her attempted suicide, and her family was hoping for a miracle. However, after a week in an emergency children’s hospital, Jocelynn died.
“I waited a whole week for a miracle that my daughter would be well, but unfortunately, nothing could be done,” Marbella told Univision. “My daughter will always live for me, and I will always love her.”
She is now demanding an investigation into who was tormenting her daughter and the failure of the school to protect her.
Jocelynn’s fatal bullying comes at a time when ICE has been weaponized to terrorize immigrant communities
President Donald Trump and Border Czar Tom Homan have made it their mission to use ICE against immigrants, regardless of criminality and status. The current federal administration has claimed that coming to the country without authorization is a crime. However, according to federal law, being undocumented is not a crime, but a civil offense.
The massive and broad sweeps of immigration raids are targeting people without criminal records. Border Czar Homan has even tried to call out Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for sharing information. Rep. AOC has been unapologetic in sharing information with people to protect themselves from illegal actions committed by ICE. Specifically, Border Czar Homan is angry that Rep. AOC is sharing Know Your Rights information.
“You can claim you [are] educating [them about] constitutional rights,” Border Czar Homan whined about on Fox News. “But what she [Ocasio-Cortez] is, in fact, doing is telling people ‘don’t open the door, hide in your home, don’t talk to ICE.’ We are talking about people who are in the country illegally [and have] committed a crime. They are public safety threats. It’s like AOC, and others don’t want ICE to enforce the law that they enacted.”
Moving a step forward, Border Czar Homan, maybe acting out of willful ignorance, took his “concerns” to the Department of Justice to see if Rep. AOC’s actions are impeding ICE operations.
But don’t worry. Rep. AOC is not going quiet. The congresswoman is legit sharing the rights people are afforded under the U.S. Constitution. In fact, she made it a point to call out the ridiculous, fear-mongering claim in a Bluesky post.
