Body shamers gonna hate.

It’s been a brutal start to summer for us all but Cardi B has proved that she continues to thrive. With regular pics of herself flaunting her looks on Instagram, the Dominican rapper has not shied away from sharing images of herself in an array of wigs, her natural locks, or in stringy bikinis.

And while the celebration of her looks should be admired by all, some have opted to attempt to stomp on it all.

Recently, an edited image of Cardi B at Target began circulating on social media.

Earlier this week, pictures of Cardi shopping in Target began to pop up online. The images showed the rapper shopping and wearing exercise gear and people were quick to attempt to “body shame” her for appearing to gain weight. Trolls quickly made their way over to Cardi B’s profile page and accused the artist of editing the bikini pictures that she recently posted on Instagram.

Fortunately, it didn’t take long for Cardi to catch wind of the commotion and defend herself on Instagram by posting more bikini videos.

In a series of images to her Instagram story, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper shared a video of herself in her underwear and admitted she’d “gained a little weight” while in quarantine. In one picture she replied to trolls by saying “My shorty told me that he like it like that.”

Hours later, Cardi followed up her posts with a bikini video where she hit back at trolls for editing the Target images.

Still upholding her good sense of humor, Cardi put the video on pause and let out a breath joking that she had been holding her stomach because she’d eaten breakfast, lunch, and had some ice cream. “I know y’all ain’t body-shaming me,” she said towards the end of the video. “Now, I know I gained a little weight…it doesn’t matter though, a bitch got lipo money. I got lipo money.”

Cardi has been transparent about the efforts she’s made to enhance her body via surgery in the past.

In May of last year, the rapper was at a performance at the Beale Street Music Festival, when she disclosed to fans that she had recently received liposuction surgery.

Later in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the rapper said that she wanted to be honest and open about her decision to undergo the surgery because she wanted “to explain to people how hard it is to process. I feel like people look at girls on Instagram and go, ‘Oh, they got their lipo done and it was so easy,”‘ she said. “It is just such a long, hard process, almost like the same process as after you give birth to a baby and you see your body change.”

She also took to Instagram Live last year to talk more about her decision to undergo the procedure telling fans about the difficulties involved with juggling recovery and a busy work schedule “I can’t even feel my body, shit hurts.”

A transparent queen with a sense of humor. Gotta love it!
