A Man Ripped Into a Woman For Not Wanting To Buy Him Red Lobster and Twitter Had Some Thoughts

*WARNING* a derogatory term casually used by the Twitter user profiled in this piece is in the exact opposite of our views and values*

Recently, a thread by @RoblesTeonna made the popular casual dining chain restaurant Red Lobster start to trend on Twitter. After Robles shared a text exchange between her and a man she was dating on social media, her 2,500 followers took to Twitter to express their opinions on the bizarre saga.

It all started when Robles posted a screenshot of a shocking interaction she had with a man she was seeing. In the text exchange, Robles shares some photos of delicious-looking tacos with a mystery man, asking him if he wants any. “I know you’re craving Red Lobster,” she says in the text convo. “But I also don’t have much money after paying my bills and it would just be easier on me”.

Instead of being grateful for Teonna’s offer to bring him food, the unidentified man instead responds callously, telling her not to “ask me what I want to eat [and] then tell me to pick something else ever again”.

Robles, understandably upset over the man’s rude response, tells him that she doesn’t like the way he’s speaking to her. “I’m offering to get you food & going out of my way to do so,” she explains to him. She then further explains that if he wants to continue to treat her so poorly, she’ll no longer associate with him.

The man takes his reaction even further by telling her that she shouldn’t have been trying to “play a position” she wasn’t “fit for”. Presumably, he is talking about the fact that she offering to buy him food and then later told him she didn’t have enough money for what he was asking for. “You’re clearly not on my level,” he told her. “And can’t afford to support a man of my caliber”.

Needless to say, Teonna’s Twitter users had some strong opinions over this man’s entitled behavior.

@RoblesTeonna’s post quickly went viral, racking up almost 37,000 likes, over 4,000 comments and over 8,000 retweets. Not only were her followers shocked by his surprising reaction to not getting Red Lobster, they were also shocked by his insistence that the woman he dates should “support” him–especially when that woman makes it clear that she’s short on cash due to paying her own bills.

Although there is a pervasive belief that women resort to “hustling” men for dates in order to get free meals, the situation proves that the attitude of entitlement goes both ways. There are a myriad of different ways people of all genders use others to fulfill their own agendas. People were quick to point out this man’s hypocrisy with comments like, “Imagine demanding from someone else, what you can’t even provide yourself. Humans are exhausting”.

After @RoblesTeonna’s account of her experience with this man, the man decided to tell his side of the story. Spoiler alert: he does not come off as a hero.

After being contacted by someone via Facebook to address the situation, the man (who is identified as “Shawn”) explains that he and Teonna were not dating, although she “wanted to claim [him] as her man”. According to Shawn, he was not yet interested in Teonna, because “she’s not the only woman trying to impress [him]” and he “cannot just sit and give any woman a relationship with [him]”.

Thankfully, the entire internet had Teonna’s back enough to publicly explain the multiple reason why she’s better than this low-life man.

Contrary to what “Shawn” believes about himself, any person who treats another person like this (regardless of gender) is not worth the time of day. Periodt.

This person made a valid point about how this man was whining about something he could have easily provided for himself.

It’s obvious that this man doesn’t have the ability to provide for himself, so he relies on the women in his life to fill that need.

A lot of people were pointing out the absurdity of thinking that Red Lobster is the peak of American fine dining.

It’s not like Red Lobster is some Michelin-rated gourmet food. It’s pretty much “Applebee’s Of the Sea”.

This person perfectly pointed out the hypocrisy of Shawn’s argument.

Presumably, a person of “high caliber” wouldn’t need to be supported, because they would have the resources to support themselves.

Even the reigning Queen of Twitter, Chrissy Teigen, got in on the fun:

Finally, a voice of reason among all this nonsense.

JLo And Shakira Are In Charge Of The Super Bowl Half Time Performance, But We Want To Know Who Will Be The Guest

There’s already so much stardom packed into one Super Bowl half time show with Jennifer Lopez and Shakira performing, that it’s hard to think how they’re supposed to condense it into a half hour show. To make things even more interesting, the internet has been wondering, who’s appearing on stage as a guest. And there’s already a fan favorite. Here’s everything you need to know.

How will they cram so much superstardom into such a 30 minute-long performance?

There’s already enough talk about this year’s Super Bowl performance. Are JLo and Shakira really not getting along in the days leading up to their show? Which hits will they be performing? And now, most recently, who will be joining the two Latinas in the watched-by-the-entire-world program? Twitter just voted and if it’s any indication of what’s coming, it should be interesting.

Their performance at the big game has special meaning for J-Lo and Shakira.

During an interview with ET Canada, the two expressed their excitement to be representing the Latino community. “I love that the Super Bowl has two women performing this year, that they have two Latinos performing this year,” J-Lo said in the interview that aired last September. “This is a marker of a new time, not just for the NFL but for the country.” “I’m honored, I’m humbled, to be next to J-Lo, representing the Latino community,” Shakira added. “It’s such an important force in the United States,” added Shakira.

The world was astonished when it was announced in 2019 that not only would Jennifer Lopez be headlining the halftime show, but also Shakira.

Both Latinas are two of the biggest names in music on one worldwide stage. And sharing the stage on this occasion seems to have been producer Jay-Z’s idea, so how could Lopez and Shakira say no? The two women spoke with ET Canada at the time of the announcement in 2019. Lopez said, “I love that it’s in Miami, it is a very Latino town.”

Who does Twitter think should join Lopez and Shakira on the halftime show stage?

Billboard.com asked Twitter, “Who do you hope #Shakira & #JenniferLopez bring out as a guest during their Super Bowl halftime performance? Vote!”

The running rumor has been that Miami native Pitbull will be joining them.

In fact, it’s reported that Pitbull has been pushing to get invited on the halftime show stage and his fans initiated a Change.org petition to get him added to the billing for the show

Fans believe there are obvious reasons why Pitbull should be the guest appearance.

Almost immediately after J Lo and Shakira announced they were co-headlining the event fans started buzzing that Pitbull is a MUST-HAVE guest on the stage too. Turns out some big wigs in Miami feel exactly the same way.

Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ, Pitbull’s camp has had talks with J Lo’s team and the NFL about making the guest appearance happen.

More than that, TMZ reported that honchos at Hard Rock Cafe International are pushing for Mr. Worldwide to get on the stage—Remember, the game’s being played at Hard Rock Stadium.

Everyone’s aware of the groundswell to have an authentic Miami artist to rep the city—and the obvious choices are Pitbull or Gloria Estefan.

The thing is, Gloria’s already performed at 2 Super Bowls—’92 in Minneapolis and ’99 in—where else—Miami.

Sources connected to Roc Nation—which is producing the Halftime Show in conjunction with the NFL—say “other surprise acts” will definitely appear with Shakira and J Lo.

While there’s no deal in place yet, TMZ reports that everyone involved is aware of the momentum—public and corporate—to make room for Pitbull.

Twitter reactions to the question range from, “Pitbull, Yo!” to “Beyoncé” and even Camila Cabello.

One Twitter user wrote: “Shakira is already bringing out JLo as a guest so that’s enough” another even speculated: “Beyoncé!” —do they want the stage to explode from all that star power? Tweeters also threw out Camila Cabello’s name a couple of times, as well as Gloria Estefan’s yet again.

It’s looking pretty likely the guest will be Pitbull.

Both singers have recorded duets with him, he’s from Miami, and he puts on a good show.

By now, the singers have laid out the songs they’ll be performing and the electrifying performances they have in store for the millions who’ll be watching. The fact that they have 30 minutes, tops, to do it all is even more bonkers.

ABC’s ‘Baker And The Beauty’ Fires Up A Romance Inside A Cuban Bakery

Latinos are getting the romantic comedy series we didn’t know we were salivating for in ABC’s “Baker and the Beauty,” which tells the tale of a Cuban baker falling for one of his customers. The customer just happens to be an “international superstar and fashion mogul.” Dominican-American actor Victor Rasuk will star alongside Peruvian-Argentine actress Nathalie Kelley as Daniel Garcia and Noa Hollander, respectively. Daniel works at his father’s Cuban bakery, entrenched in the wonders and frustrations of being part of a family business. During a life-changing moment at a restaurant, Noa takes pity on Daniel and invites him to go out on the town with her. The family business booms as Miami crowds learn of their romance and the two fall in love over the enticing smell of Cuban bread baking, and guava and cream cheese tenderly wrapped by Daniel’s expert baking hands. “He’s the baker and she’s the beauty,” Daniel’s cousin jokingly sings in the trailer.

Mix Cuban bread with a Latino-centered rom-com and you’ve got all the hype that the new trailer is officially buzzing.

The entire story is based off what can only be called an Israeli novela.

The show of the same name is one of the best-loved scripted series ever to air in Israel. Now available on Netflix Israel and Amazon Prime Video, the original follows the same plot of different cultural backgrounds: a working-class Yemenite baker and Ashkenazi supermodel fall in love as a means to touch on social divisions with more humor.

The Latino version will be set in Miami, Florida and follows the life of Daniel Garcia (Rasuk) who has done everything he’s supposed to do. He’s followed through on the family business and looks up to his parents’ romance as life goals. “They make each other better,” Daniel tells his new love interest in the trailer as we see the two dancing down the hallways of their home.

Then, one night, Daniel’s girlfriend proposes.

His whole family had been warning him that she’s going to want to get married soon. When they find out what restaurant they’re going to that night, they start cackling. “For that, you can spend a weekend in the Bahamas,” a primo warns. The family has made it clear: “a girl like that” is going to just want more and more. It’s clear that Daniel isn’t interested in taking their relationship to the next level and sputters when, at dinner, she calls the attention of the entire restaurant to propose.

Needless to say, she’s pissed when he publicly rejects her, ending their relationship.

Viewers, we get the twisted pleasure of watching Rasuk get splattered with what is likely an $87 bowl of soup in the trailer. However, since the restaurant his now-ex has chosen is filled with all the rich and the famous, the entire novela breakup is filmed on stars’ smartphones. One of those stars is the stunning Noa Hollander, played by Nathalie Kelley.

Kelley has said that the most powerful part of playing her character is that “while she’s this renowned beauty” she also feels “not good enough.” Kelley grew up as one of the few Latinas in a suburban Australian neighborhood and was teased constantly. “The more acceptance and love for ourselves that women can cultivate within themselves and then share with other women, the better for society as a whole,” Kelley told Variety reporter Danielle Turchiano.

The supermodel invites a pitiful man with soup all over his shirt to join her on a wild night on the town.

What started as a night that ended a serious relationship has become the beginning of a wild love affair. Like a bien portado Cuban son, Daniel is live reporting back to his family on the happenings of his evening. “Que caca me dices,” his mom incredulously asks until social media starts blasting photos of Daniel and Noa spending the evening together. From there, their business takes off as Miamians hope to bump into Noa at the panadería.

ABC Family is giving us another Spanglish rom-com that is as over-the-top as we deserve with familia at the center.

All I know is that I’d hate to be Daniel’s ex right about now. Carlos Gomez, Lisa Vidal, Dan Bucatinsky, Michelle Veintimilla, and David Del Rio are also cast members in ABC’s highly anticipated Israeli plotline turned novela.

The series is set to premiere on April 6 on ABC Family.
