A Man Ripped Into a Woman For Not Wanting To Buy Him Red Lobster and Twitter Had Some Thoughts

*WARNING* a derogatory term casually used by the Twitter user profiled in this piece is in the exact opposite of our views and values*

Recently, a thread by @RoblesTeonna made the popular casual dining chain restaurant Red Lobster start to trend on Twitter. After Robles shared a text exchange between her and a man she was dating on social media, her 2,500 followers took to Twitter to express their opinions on the bizarre saga.

It all started when Robles posted a screenshot of a shocking interaction she had with a man she was seeing. In the text exchange, Robles shares some photos of delicious-looking tacos with a mystery man, asking him if he wants any. “I know you’re craving Red Lobster,” she says in the text convo. “But I also don’t have much money after paying my bills and it would just be easier on me”.

Instead of being grateful for Teonna’s offer to bring him food, the unidentified man instead responds callously, telling her not to “ask me what I want to eat [and] then tell me to pick something else ever again”.

Robles, understandably upset over the man’s rude response, tells him that she doesn’t like the way he’s speaking to her. “I’m offering to get you food & going out of my way to do so,” she explains to him. She then further explains that if he wants to continue to treat her so poorly, she’ll no longer associate with him.

The man takes his reaction even further by telling her that she shouldn’t have been trying to “play a position” she wasn’t “fit for”. Presumably, he is talking about the fact that she offering to buy him food and then later told him she didn’t have enough money for what he was asking for. “You’re clearly not on my level,” he told her. “And can’t afford to support a man of my caliber”.

Needless to say, Teonna’s Twitter users had some strong opinions over this man’s entitled behavior.

@RoblesTeonna’s post quickly went viral, racking up almost 37,000 likes, over 4,000 comments and over 8,000 retweets. Not only were her followers shocked by his surprising reaction to not getting Red Lobster, they were also shocked by his insistence that the woman he dates should “support” him–especially when that woman makes it clear that she’s short on cash due to paying her own bills.

Although there is a pervasive belief that women resort to “hustling” men for dates in order to get free meals, the situation proves that the attitude of entitlement goes both ways. There are a myriad of different ways people of all genders use others to fulfill their own agendas. People were quick to point out this man’s hypocrisy with comments like, “Imagine demanding from someone else, what you can’t even provide yourself. Humans are exhausting”.

After @RoblesTeonna’s account of her experience with this man, the man decided to tell his side of the story. Spoiler alert: he does not come off as a hero.

After being contacted by someone via Facebook to address the situation, the man (who is identified as “Shawn”) explains that he and Teonna were not dating, although she “wanted to claim [him] as her man”. According to Shawn, he was not yet interested in Teonna, because “she’s not the only woman trying to impress [him]” and he “cannot just sit and give any woman a relationship with [him]”.

Thankfully, the entire internet had Teonna’s back enough to publicly explain the multiple reason why she’s better than this low-life man.

Contrary to what “Shawn” believes about himself, any person who treats another person like this (regardless of gender) is not worth the time of day. Periodt.

This person made a valid point about how this man was whining about something he could have easily provided for himself.

It’s obvious that this man doesn’t have the ability to provide for himself, so he relies on the women in his life to fill that need.

A lot of people were pointing out the absurdity of thinking that Red Lobster is the peak of American fine dining.

It’s not like Red Lobster is some Michelin-rated gourmet food. It’s pretty much “Applebee’s Of the Sea”.

This person perfectly pointed out the hypocrisy of Shawn’s argument.

Presumably, a person of “high caliber” wouldn’t need to be supported, because they would have the resources to support themselves.

Even the reigning Queen of Twitter, Chrissy Teigen, got in on the fun:

Finally, a voice of reason among all this nonsense.

Twitter Has Busted a Ring of Fake Accounts That Posed As Black Trump Supporters

Twitter Has Busted a Ring of Fake Accounts That Posed As Black Trump Supporters

On Monday, Twitter announced that it has suspended 15 Twitter accounts of “Black Trump supporters” that they discovered were fake. The accounts were similar in nature, tweeting out nearly identical messages, like “YES IM BLACK AND IM VOTING FOR TRUMP!!!” and “VOTE REPUBLICAN”. The accounts quickly amassed thousands of followers and retweets.

The fake “Black Trump Supporter” accounts were discovered by social media disinformation researcher Darren Linvill, who flagged the accounts and reported them to Twitter.

The accounts violate Twitter’s rule barring users from using the platform “in a manner intended to artificially amplify or suppress information or engage in behavior that manipulates or disrupts people’s experience.”

The Twitter accounts sourced their profile photos through internet image searches. One profile photo even included the search term “black man photo” at the top of the profile photo–proving that someone stole the photo from the internet and (sloppily) cropped it. Others were revealed, via reverse-image searching, to be generic stock photos of Black people.

The accounts seemed to follow a pattern: the Black Trump supporters were devout Christians, veterans, blue-collar workers, police officers…you get the picture.

“They are impersonating Black Trump supporters, Black authoritative figures such as veterans and police officers, and various prominent individuals in order to gain rapid traction and virality,” said cybersecurity manager Lee Foster to The Washington Post.

Linvill says that the accounts don’t necessarily appear to be a coordinated campaign, although he did find traces of the Russian alphabet  in the accounts’ online records. Linvill hypothesizes that the accounts might have had monetary motives–they often tweeted out links to buy Trump merchandise.

Another theory is that, based on the timing, whoever created the fake accounts is trying to change what appears to be the persistent narrative that President Trump is racist. The accounts became much more active in recent months, around the time when Trump refused to condemn white supremacist groups on national TV. These “Black Trump supporters” make it seem like he actually has the support of Black Americans.

But polls and surveys prove that Trump is highly unpopular among Black Americans. The Pew Research Center shows that 81% of Black voters support Biden in the upcoming election.

These most recent fake Twitter accounts are one of the many ways that the Republican Party has been attempting to manipulate voters this election cycle. Along with spreading disinformation, the party has set up unsanctioned ballot drop-off boxes across California. The Governor of Texas, Rick Abbott (R) also made headlines recently for restricting the amount of official ballot boxes in Texas to only one per county–a move that critics slammed as a transparent attempt to suppress the Latino vote.

A Hairstylist Defended Her Latina Assistant From An Angry Customer And The Video Has Gone Viral

SHARON / YouTube

A Los Angeles hairstylist named Sharon is getting a lot of love for how she handled an upset client. According to Sharon’s account, the client was being racist and she was not going to let the woman get away with it. Here is what we know so far.

A TikTok video is going viral showing a hairstylist reprimanding an upset client.

Y’all ROBIN IS THE NEW KAREN!!! This literally had me shaking!!!! Beware of this behavior people!!! #fyp #xyzbca #karen

The brief video shows the client, Robin, telling Sharon that she didn’t want the assistant working on her hair. The video is brief and shows the interaction after Robin is already in the chair and having her hair done. However, Sharon claims that Robin has been racist in the past and that the actions on this day just further exacerbated that sentiment.

Sharon has been working on Robin’s hair for about two years and she feels she understands her.

In an Instagram Live video, Sharon talks about how she has experienced Robin’s racism growing throughout the years of working together.

“She’s always coming into the salon and was really proud of doing derogatory things. That’s why I say I connected the dots like 30 minutes after everything happened cause I started to think about the way she spoke in every appointment and she was always very derogatory towards Mexicans. She’d be like, ‘Oh yeah, and guess what. They were Mexican,’” Sharon says in the IG Live. “So, I’m like thinking, I’m putting the pieces together. I look at Alex and I go, ‘Alex, you let me know what feeling. Is it just me or did you feel from the jump that there was some racism off the f***ing bat?’ She’s like, ‘Oh my god! I’m so happy you said that because I didn’t want to say anything but I 1000 percent felt that way.”

Sharon claims to have the beginning of the experience on camera and has promised to share it.

During her IG Live, Sharon says that Robin entered and immediately started treating her assistant, Alex, with disrespect. According to Sharon, Robin didn’t address Alex directly and checked her out with an up and down glance.

“For all of you people saying your own opinions saying like, ‘There was no racism,’” Sharon tells the IG Live audience. “First of all, you only got a three-minute and 15-second post so let’s relax. Second of all, Alex and I were the only ones in the room and if we felt like there was racism happening then there was racism happening. Point blank. Period.”

Some people are celebrating Sharon and her handling of Robin in the video.

“Mind you, you guys, her own granddaughter reached out to me,” Sharon says in the video. “Her own granddaughter reaches out to me and she basically said we don’t condone Robin’s behavior, we don’t have a relationship with her, we are so sorry this happened. We want to pay you. I was like, ‘No. Honestly, you coming to me and having the energy and the balls basically to come to me and say, ‘Hey. I’m her granddaughter and I’m so sorry.’ I was like, ‘You win. Hands down to you.’”

Here’s a longer version of the interaction that Sharon posted to YouTube.
