Just when you thought Selena Gomez and her brand couldn’t get any rarer, she launched a beauty line.

The new line, which is set to come out at Sephora stores this summer, is meant to strive for a whole lot of inclusivity and diversity. Which, of course, means tons of shades of concealer and foundation!

Forty-eight to be precise!

Gomez announced her new makeup line this past February before things, you know, got real.

In a post to her Instagram page, the “Rare” singer wrote “Guys, I’ve been working on this special project for two years and can officially say Rare Beauty is launching in @sephora stores in North America this summer! Follow @rarebeauty and become part of our beautiful community. Here’s a tiny sneak. There’s more to share AND I can’t wait.”

Turns out, Gomez’s new line is meant to start a conversation about feeling good in your own skin.

In a recent interview with comedian Amy Schumer, Gomez spoke out about the Rare makeup line and how she views beauty and makeup saying “I wanted to start a conversation about how can you make yourself feel great. It’s not necessarily about needing these things to make yourself feel beautiful. People of my generation have all this pressure to look a certain way, and I wanted to make a line that took away a bit of that pressure. I use real people in the campaigns. I have 48 shades of foundation and concealer. It’s all very clean and easy. I wanted people to feel safe.”

Gomez’s new makeup line draws on the messages of empowerment in her latest album.

Gomez captivated fans earlier this year when she dropped her record, Rare. Soon after its release, her album was touted as a loving ode to self-acceptance and love. There’s no doubt Gomez’s latest project will be something special.
