The famed Casa Bonita in Lakewood, Colorado has opened for reservations and the online queue was wild. The Mexican restaurant, complete with divers and pageantry, is a sought after summer vacation and the hype was real this year. People were lining up online for hours to score tickets and those who have landed reservations are bragging.

Casa Bonita opened up reservations for the summer and people went wild

Casa Bonita is a famous Mexican restaurant in Lakewood, Colorado and you have probably seen it before. The restaurant was featured in a “South Park” episode in 2003 and the popularity of the restaurant is still alive and well. Reservations for June, July, and August opened at 9:00 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2025 and people couldn’t wait to get in line to score reservations.

This is the first summer that Casa Bonita is allowing the public to make reservations at the restaurant. Up until September 2024, the restaurant was only offering invite-only dinners for people. The excitement about being able to partake in the restaurant’s festivities and entertainment is palpable.

People are literally spending their day fighting to get into the restaurant that is owned by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, “South Park” creators. Thousands of people descended on the site to make reservations and the joy of landing a seat is sending people. Don’t get jealous because you can still try to land reservations and we send you all of the luck in the world.

The restaurant’s revival has been a long time coming

Parker and Stone bought Casa Bonita in 2021 after the former owners, Family Summit Restaurant, filed for bankruptcy. The acquisition of Casa Bonita made headlines with fans of the show and the restaurant excited for the future. Parker and Stone bought Casa Bonita for $3 million and put another $40 million in for the renovations. It is clear that they care about the restaurant and making sure they do it right.

“This is a really exciting announcement not only for the community but for our entire state,” then-Lakewood Mayor Adam Paul told The Hollywood Reporter in 2021. “There has been a lot of behind-the-scenes movement and certainly these deals can be challenging. Not only will this help save an iconic landmark in Lakewood, but it will also provide catalytic change for an emerging arts district. I want to thank Trey and Matt for their commitment to the community!”

Over the last four years, Stone and Parker were busy making renovations for the restaurant to bring it back to its former glory. It does seem fitting that Parker and Stone, who made the restaurant famous the world over, took their time and money to make Casa Bonita a place to visit.

According to The Denver Post, 10,000 people joined the virtual queue to snag reservations at the restaurant. It is obvious that people are more than excited to be able to get back into the restaurant. Hopefully, we can start seeing some “South Park” characters running around the restaurant to bring more entertainment and joy for patrons.
