Vive Latino celebrated its 25th anniversary this past weekend, and Crema was fortunate to experience the music in person. From discovering new artists to getting a behind-the-scenes look at how Amazon Music brought this global livestream to life, one of the undeniable highlights was ASTROPICAL’s electrifying debut.

Meet ASTROPICAL: A Cosmic Introduction

ASTROPICAL, the supergroup combining the musical talent of Bomba Estéreo and Rawayana, made their much-anticipated debut at Vive Latino in Mexico City on the Amazon Music stage. Before they hit the road for their upcoming tour, Crema had the honor of witnessing their first-ever show—and it was nothing short of magical. As Li Saumet stated on stage, “We are ASTROPICAL, and we come from the planet of Good Vibes.”

Music, Astrology, and Energy Collide

The performance began with a mystical fortune teller gazing into a crystal ball and revealing tarot cards that symbolized the songs to come. ASTROPICAL seamlessly blended electro-cumbia, afrobeat, and tropical rhythms, kicking things off with “Brinca (Acuario,)” in which the lyrics set the tone for the performance by singing, “Let the music hit you, take your pain away, no importa el idioma, we are all the same, no hay ley en la music.”

The energy carried through to “Corazón Adentro (Escorpio).” Bomba Estéreo’s signature beats fused effortlessly with Rawayana’s laid-back groove, creating a euphoric atmosphere in which the crowd danced nonstop.

The symbolic connection to the zodiac didn’t stop there. “Fogata (Leo)” saw the artists seated on stage, adding a layer of intimacy to the track.

A Surprise for the Fans

Fans were treated to an unforgettable moment when Li Saumet surprised the crowd with a heartfelt rendition of “Ojitos Lindos,” originally her hit collaboration with Bad Bunny. This time, she performed it alongside Beto Montenegro of Rawayana—a rendition we never knew we needed. The entire crowd sang along and was in shock.

Beto proudly waved the Colombian flag while Li Saumet held the Venezuelan flag high, celebrating their roots during the performance of “Veneka.” The setlist wasn’t just ASTROPICAL tracks; they paid homage to their own discographies, including Bomba Estéreo’s notable “To My Love.”

Visuals That Transported the Crowd

Visually, ASTROPICAL delivered a kaleidoscopic experience. The background visuals showed a cosmic dreamscape with tarot card images, underwater imagery, trees, mushrooms, and more. There were inflatable set pieces as well. The horoscope theme carried through to their fashion, with bright pink, blue, and neon yellow ensembles. Beto even waved a fan, adding a playful flair.

Their Vive Latino debut was just a preview of what’s ahead. Songs like “Siento (Virgo),” “Una Noche en Caracas,” and “Fogata” took the audience on a journey of emotions. ASTROPICAL closed their set with “Me Pasa (Piscis),” the track that first introduced the world to their album.

For those who couldn’t make it in person, Amazon Music (the number one global destination for live streams)brought the festival straight to fans’ living rooms via AmazonMusicEnVivo on Twitch and Prime Video. With no subscription required, music lovers worldwide joined the celebration.
