Latin GRAMMYs 2021: Bad Bunny Literally Set the Stage on Fire, and 5 Most Memorable Performances
Last night’s Latin GRAMMY Awards were filled with many amazing performances. Among the top moments included performances by Bad Bunny, Christina Aguilera, Grupo Firme, and more.
Camilo was the big winner of the night.
Camilo took home the most Latin GRAMMYs. The Colombian singer-songwriter won in four categories, upping his career total to five awards.
The Latin GRAMMYs’ Person of the Year honoree, Rubén Blades won Album of the Year for “Salswing!” with Roberto Delgado & Orquesta. Yotuel’s protest anthem “Patria y Vida,” which features many Cuban musicians and has become an anthem for Cuban protests worldwide, won Song of the Year.
Brazilian singer Caetano Veloso and his son Tom Veloso won Record of the Year for “Talvez.” Colombian artist Juliana Velásquez rounded out the Big Four categories by taking home Best New Artist.
Bad Bunny became a rock star.
Bad Bunny took home two Latin GRAMMY awards. The Puerto Rican superstar won Best Urban Music Album for “El Último Tour Del Mundo” and Best Rap/Hip-Hop Song for “Booker T.” He closed out a show with a fiery performance of “Maldita Pobreza.” The song notably features an alternative rock influence so Bad Bunny embraced his inner rock star onstage.
Christina Aguilera made a triumphant return.
Christina Aguilera returned to the Latin GRAMMYs stage for the first time in 21 years. Her last performance was at the first ceremony in 2000. For her comeback, Aguilera performed her two newest singles, “Somos Nada” and “Pa Mis Muchachas.” For the latter, she was joined onstage by the song’s featured artists: Becky G, Nathy Peluso, and Nicki Nicole. The women joined forces for an incredible Latina girl power moment.
Grupo Firme made their Latin GRAMMYs debut.
Grupo Firme won their first Latin GRAMMY Award for Best Banda Album. The Mexican-American group’s LP “Nos Divertimos Logrando Lo Imposible” took home the award. The guys are refreshing regional Mexican music for the Gen-Z audience. Grupo Firme gave a heartfelt performance of their recent hits “Ya Supérarme” and “Me Gustas.” They’re a band to watch out for as their star continues to rise in the music industry.
Yotuel led a powerful performance of “Patria y Vida.”
“Patria y Vida” won the Latin GRAMMY awards for Song of the Year and Best Urban Song. Yotuel teamed up with fellow Cuban acts like Gente De Zona, Descemer Bueno, Maykel Osorbo, and El Funky for the political anthem. During this year’s protests against the Cuba’s communist government, the Cuban citizens were playing the song in the streets. Yotuel reunited with most of his squad to deliver a powerful performance of their song.
C. Tangana’s “Ingobernable” was unforgettable.
C. Tangana won three Latin GRAMMY awards, including for Best Alternative Song and Best Pop/Rock Song. At the show, the Spanish rapper performed his song “Ingobernable.” He was joined onstage by most of the collaborators from his “El Madrileño” album, including Omar Apollo, Natalia Lafourcade, Nathy Peluso, and Jorge Drexler. C. Tangana assembled an incredible cast of artists for this stellar performance.
