The video is drawing a strong reaction as the discussion of the immigration crisis in the U.S. continues. The man, according to KFOX14, is a suspected coyote who fits a description given by a man who reported people on his property.

The incident is reminding people of the severe and daily police brutality happening in the U.S. In 2019, more than 1,000 people were killed by police brutality, according to Mapping Police Violence. In 2018, 23 percent of police violence victims were Black despite making up 13 percent of the U.S. population.

Border Patrol representatives have issued a statement justifying the use of force.

“The video clearly shows the subject causing a disturbance as Border Patrol agents attempt to arrest him,” a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol spokesperson told Border Report. “The man refused to cooperate with the verbal instructions and attempted to avoid being handcuffed and a struggle ensued. Agents deployed their taser in order to gain control of the subject while mitigating the physical struggle. The man was medically cleared and taken into custody.”

The agents’ shocking takedown of the suspect is forcing a conversation of the amount of force used to apprehend him.

It is reported that after agents ran a background check on the man it was discovered that he was undocumented and had a criminal history.
