Kellyanne Conway Is Convinced That Americans Think the Impeachment Process is a Sham

Kellyanne Conway is as famous for being a counselor to the president as she is for her bizarre word-gymnastics. Who could forget her infamous coining of the term “alternative facts” when arguing about the size of Trump’s inauguration crowd in 2017. One thing Conway is not well-known for, however, are her jokes.

On Monday, Conway made an appearance on the popular cable news morning show Fox & Friends to discuss the impeachment hearings that President Trump is embroiled in. Conway, being who she is, arrived on the program with a veritable vault of sound bites ready to be dispensed at the right opportunity. One of these unfortunate soundbites was a hybrid Christmas/impeachment joke that was lame enough to make the dorkiest of dads cringe.

“For all the incredible buying power in this Trump economy, you know what Americans are not buying this holiday season? Impeachment,” she quipped.

The joke was in response to a question a Fox & Friends co-host posed about whether it was a “tough decision” for Trump’s lawyers to refuse to participate in the impeachment hearings. After insisting that it was “not a tough decision”, Conway launched into a lengthy diatribe, denouncing Trump’s impeachment as “an unconstitutional, illegitimate engagement”.

Usually a receptive audience, even the Fox & Friends anchors didn’t seem to be impressed with her attempt at word-play. But Conway didn’t stop there. She continued her amateur stand-up routine by likening the House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler to Inspector Clouseau (the star of “The Pink Panther” franchise).

“If [Nadler] knew what the charges were…we would already know what were in the articles of impeachment,” she told the morning show. “Why is he playing a game of Inspector Clouseau secret squirrel?”

And as if that weren’t enough, Conway continued her tirade against the House Judiciary committee, virtually filibustering on the illegitimacy of the impeachment. Conway claimed that Democrats were making Trump “a victim to lots of Americans” who just want to “get on with the business of the country”. Conway posited that if Democrats were so convinced of Trump’s guilt, then “why in the world do [they] spend fifteen hours on Saturday and Sunday trying to figure out what the strategy is for today?”.

Conway, never one to back down from some screen-time, continued on her tirade even when a co-host tried to cut off her rambling speech. “Were [the Democrats] at soup kitchens?” she asked, becoming visibly more unhinged as she continued to speak. “Were they at districts putting wreaths on veteran’s graves? Were they there telling seniors how they’re going to lower their prescriptions drugs? Were they there covering the pot holes? Getting the 5G broadband to kids who don’t have it in rural America? No! They were huddled here in the nation’s capital on your dime wasting your time on more impeachment…”

For all the jokes Conway made at the expense of Democrats, if there’s one person who’s not laughing this week, it’s President Trump.

According to Trump’s lawyers, they are refusing to participate in the impeachment proceedings due to the lack of “any semblance of a fair process” by the House Judiciary Committee. As a refresher, The House Judiciary Committee  decided to move forward with impeaching President Trump after releasing a 300-page report detailing the relationship between Trump and Ukraine. This makes Trump the third president in the history of the United States to be impeached.

As for what many people on Twitter weren’t “buying”, it was Conway’s misrepresentation of the facts.

Conway always has  a way of spinning reality, but nonetheless, it’s still irksome to hear her spouting “alternative facts” on national television.

This person didn’t seem to agree on Conway’s assertion that Americans don’t agree with Trump’s impeachment:

Her claim that Democrats are making Trump a “victim” in the eyes of the American people is dubious, at best.

This person took issue with Conway calling the impeachment “illegitimate”.

It’s not easy to impeach a president. Considering the many scandals that Trump has been involved with since taking office (and before as well), many people would consider the impeachment is a long-time-coming.

This person was skeptical of Conway’s polling data, when there is public evidence suggesting the contrary.

According to aggregate polling site fivethirtyeight.com, 47.4% Americans support Trump’s impeachment while 45.6% oppose it.

This person coined a new term:

Although we’ve never heard the phrase “Impeachmas” before, we agree that it has quite a nice ring to it.

The Best And Worst National Anthem Performances Of All Time

Belting out any song in your best voice can be tough stuffings. But when it comes to performing the “Star-Spangled Banner” only singers in a completely different league of their own can actually do the national anthem justice. The songs poetic lyrics are notoriously difficult because of its wide range. So of course, naturally, in the decades of performances in which “Star-Spangled Banner” has been song at sporting events and the like, there have been some mishaps.

This year, both Shakira and J.Lo are set to perform at the Super Bowl’s halftime show while Demi Lovato will make a career come back by singing the national anthem for millions of viewers. Here’s a look at all of the times singers have rocked and flubbed the national anthem.

That time the Dixie Chicks did a beautiful country rendition of the song.

Fans of the Dixie Chicks fell further in love with the country music stars when they stuck to the original lyrics and sentiment of the song when they performed at Super Bowl XXXVII in 2003.

When Whitney Houston gave a GOAT performance back in the 90s.

The queen of pop reigned supreme back in the 90s and thanks to her outstanding vocal range she had the full anthem in the bag. During the 1991 Super Bowl XXV,  Houston sang and hit each and every note. Not only that, she recorded the song and released it as a single and when 9/11 happened she re-released the single and gave all of her earnings to charity.

In 1983, when Marvin Gaye gave the national anthem a whirl and blew our minds.

Twenty years ago, the beloved “Aint No Mountain High Enough” singer took the anthem to the next level. The singer’s  1983 NBA All-Star performance had a traditional MoTown feel and to this day is celebrated. In fact, his rendition was used in a 2008 Nike commercial featuring the 2008 U.S. Olympic basketball team.

When Chloe and Halle gave the classic ballad a twist of their own.

Back in 2017, the sister duo stole breaths at the NFL Draft Kick Off when the two sang “America the Beautiful”.  Beyonce did us a solid by discovering them.

That time Lady Gaga sang the National Anthem in a fire pantsuit.

Lady Gaga rocked Stadiums at the 2016 Super Bowl. During her performance, the Lady of ladies hit all of her notes and reinvigorated both sides of the crowd.

That time Fergie went for an eye-popping performance.

Beloved singer Fergie did a rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner’ in 2018 that was one for the books. The strange performance went haywire when the singer attempted to go for a sultry version of the national anthem that just… did not slay. During her perfroamce, camera panned to find audience members stifling giggles and soon enough an internet meme was born. Poor Fergie.

When Roseanne Barr gave us a peek into just how problematic she was.

Back in 1990, Barr made an appearance at a Padres game and sang the national anthem. (Still no word on who booked her for this.) Barr’s cringeworthy performance, which was off-key and oddly high pitched, was made worse when fans realized she was attempting to make the patriotic song into a joke. The racist comedian dared to even spit on the pitcher’s mound as she was leaving the field. Yikes.

When Christina Aguilera forgot the lyrics.

In 2011, Aguilera came out to sing the lyrics to our countries beloved anthem and pretty much bombed. The famous singer had been celebrated for nailing the song hundreds of times. Even when she was kid. Video of the singer proves that she started out of the gate spectacularly but ultimately, things took a turn for the worse when she skipped over lyrics and even began the song again. According to an interview with Aguilera on Elleh, the singer let her get the mood get to her so bad that she forgot most of the lyrics and tried to improve.

Demi Tweeted That ‘One Day, She’d Sing The National Anthem At The Super Bowl’ And Guess Who’s Singing This Year

Demi Lovato announced that she will be singing the national anthem at Super Bowl LIV, so it’s safe to say that her year is off to a pretty good start. But what’s even more interesting though, is that somehow, someone unearthed a tweet from 2010 in which the singer said she would “one day” sing the national at the Super Bowl —and we’re obsessed with this full-circle moment, but also a little bit creeped out tbh.

2020 is looking pretty good for Demi Lovato so far.

The singer is making a pretty big comeback with, not just one, but two MAJOR performances, back to back.

Just a week ago, she announced that she’ll be performing at the Grammy Awards on January 26.

The announcement of her upcoming performance came just a few weeks after the singer teased “the next time you hear from me, I’ll be singing” back in December.

The star will make her much anticipated return to the spotlight later this month.

Demi announced that she’ll be performing at the 62nd Grammy Awards later this month, via instagram. “I told you the next time you’d hear from me I’d be singing.” The Recording Academy also confirmed Lovato’s participation shortly after her announcement. And that’s not the only thing Demi has —manifested— into action.

We don’t know what type of brujería she worked but Demi truly predicted this.

PopCrave recently unearthed a 2010 tweet from Demi in which she accurately predicted her Super Bowl performance —a full decade before she’s slated to take the stage. “One day I’m gonna sing the national anthem at a Super Bowl,” Demi wrote ten years ago, adding: “Onnnee dayyy….” —brujería, I tell you.

The singer, who’s been in self-care mode since her 2018 overdose, announced she’ll be singing the national anthem at Super Bowl LIV next month.

Demi’s idea of “taking it slow” took an interesting turn after this announcement.  She is now slated to perform at the the same annual Super Bowl —the same low key event that Nielsen says drew an audience of 98.2 million people in the United States and sparked 32.3 million social media interactions last year. No biggie.

The “Sorry Not Sorry” singer will be joining a roster of A-list stars at the Super Bowl this year.

The iconic half time performance is in the hands of two Latinx queens. Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, are headlining the show. And now it’s J.Lo, Shakira, and Demi. And we already can’t wait to watch these Latinas rock the show.

Demi’s fans have been quick to show their support and excitement for her upcoming gigs.

The 27-year-old has publicly struggled with sobriety and was treated for a drug overdose in July 2018. A globally viewed Grammy performance, and Super Bowl appearance, are quite ambitious undertakings for someone who has stayed out of the spotlight for some time. But her fans’ support might’ve been what encouraged her to get back in the game.

Team Demi is with her all the way…

YOU’RE REALLY FEEDING US OMG WE DONT DESERVE,” one fan tweeted after the singer announced her Super Bowl appearance. Another wrote: “So happy for you Demi… I’m excited for you for 2020 it’s your year to shine brighter than the sun… you f*cking rock!!!!”
