Peso Pluma is the Latino star of the moment. There is no doubt about it. The Mexican singer-songwriter achieved the impressive feat of having two songs in the Billboard Top 100.

This is the first time an artist from the Mexican Regional genre has ever made it that high on the list, much less with two songs.

We are talking about “Ella Baila Sola,” his collab with Eslabón Armado, and “La bebé” with Yng Lvcas.

Everybody is happy for him, of course. However, many have pondered if his success would mean a rivalry with the crowned king of Latin music, Bad Bunny.

It is well known that fans of El Conejo Malo have always followed his example of love and support for the entire community.

However, a video of Peso Pluma that went viral on TikTok a few weeks ago made many fans wonder if the sentiment was the same for the regional music singer.

“We are the first ones that put a corrido in number one, defeating ‘el pendejo de Bad Bunny.’ We Mexicans are the best,” Peso Pluma said during a concert.

Luckily, la Doble P has walked back that unfortunate statement

During an interview with Billboard, he mentioned Bad Bunny as one of the “main influences in my career.”

“Last night, I got to say hello to him [and] clear some things,” Peso Pluma continued. “That was amazing. He’s an amazing person.”

And there is no doubt in anyone’s mind about that.

Over the past few weeks, fans have enjoyed watching Benito sing “Ella Baila Sola” just before his successful headlining debut at Coachella.

Both singers were spotted in the VIP area during the festival, waiting for Rosalia’s performance.

And if there is a secret to the success of Latin music, it has been precisely the friendship and collaboration of urban artists.

As Peso Pluma told Billboard, “We’re just two guys [who] share our passion [with] you people.”
