These Winged Tip Eyeliner Fails Are Painful But Oh So Hilarious To Watch

Let’s be real, can you afford a glam squad? We didn’t think so, which means we completely understand the problematic dilemmas that come with trying to look fly especially if you’re not the best at applying makeup. If you’re not a gifted makeup artist, heck, if you’re just kind of basic when it comes to putting on mascara and lipstick, we totally get that applying isn’t easy. That’s why we turn to makeup experts on YouTube tutorials and Instagram videos that teach us how to put on makeup the proper way. The problem is, we still don’t do it right.

Nevertheless, whether you’re an influencer in the making or just looking to have some fun online, here’s a roundup of some of the most hilarious (and worst) winged tip eyeliner fails.

When you think you got this, but then oh wait, no you don’t.

This poor chick was so close. She did one eyelid perfectly. Her winged tip was on point. Now she just needed to do the other side. She was so careful of getting the black eyeliner right where it was supposed to be and then oops, crooked line. “Oh my god,” she says and then lets out a hilarious sigh. She tries to fix it by applying concealer and then gives up. “I’m not feeling this.”

When you try to do the tape hack only to realize you’re probably going blind.

Makeup experts have shown us an easy way to do a wingtip by using tape to keep the lines straight. The problem with this girl here is that she put so much black liquid makeup on her lashes that the liquid seeped through to her eyeball!! You can see her fear in her eye (the other is basically gone) but don’t freak, she didn’t lose an eyeball.

When at first, you don’t succeed, pick yourself up and try again (and again and again).

Homeboy here, who goes by Skinny, is a pretty fabulous character. He tries multiple times to do the winged tip and he can’t get it right because the tip is too thick. He tries so many times that one side of his face is red because he keeps scrubbing it off. Please watch the entire thing, you won’t be sorry.

When you shouldn’t be bothering at all.

Oh my god, this mom here did the winged tip while catching up on CSI. Dear Lord help us all. Her attempt is so bad, she should never ever pick up black liquid eyeliner again.

When you’re a wannabe pro and still manage to get it wrong.

Jessica Smart looks like a typical makeup expert wannabe on YouTube, but she admits that she’s not good at doing a winged tip. She tries the good ol’ dental floss hack and fails completely. She does it well enough on one eyelid, but the other one is a hot mess.

When every eyeliner hack fails you but you don’t even care.

Gianna here tried every winged tip eyeliner hack in the book: the spoon, drawing dots, using tape. All of them failed miserably but she sure had fun doing it.

When you’re not sure it went wrong but upon further inspection, oh yes, you’re clueless.

This woman here almost had it. She almost had the perfect winged tip and at first glance, you think she got it too. She looks great but then she closes her eye and then bam! Total fail.

When you give up on life because you’re never going to do a winged-tip right.

This girl here doesn’t even bother to try. She knows the frustration of messing up so bad then there’s nothing else left to do but to paint your entire face.

When you’re eyes weren’t made for winged-tip eyeliner so just forget the whole thing.

https://youtu.be/2ySgVvGQODg This noted makeup artist said she cannot do winged-tip eyeliner on herself at all mainly because she has down-turned eyes and too much skin on her eyelid. We thought she was exaggerating but nope, her eyes are meant for winged-tip eyeliner. However, we think if someone else did it for her she’d look great. Maybe all of this has taught us that someone else should be applying makeup for us, and if we can’t find someone else to do it, then just have fun and who cares what you look like.  Which video was your favorite?

To get the best secrets about applying the best cat-eye we asked our FIERCE readers for the best advice on how to apply a good cat-eye and boy did they deliver!

“NYX professional make up eyeliner! That’s the point eyeliner! It’s my fave!!!” –dreawashere

“Tape 🙌🏽” – solrodr

“My secret is a brow brush! It has the best shape and gets really precise tips.” –lianakayarr

“You will need any eye liner, a q-tip and a pack of makeup remover wipes Draw the wing, doesn’t matter if it looks neat or even matches at first. Take the q-tip and press the cotton into the makeup remover pack. You now have a eyeliner corrector without using a whole sheet or concealer 💥 💥💥. Erase away the part of the wing you don’t want and shape to your liking. Re-dip if you need more. I use this every time I want a smaller wing.”- n.a.t.t.y_b

“I start by outlining the wing and then fill it in.”- jesstaco_food

“Steady hand & a prayer.” – __geminisantiago__

“Make the wing outline on your non-dominant side and then match it on the other. (If youre right handed, starting on left eye). I found it to be a lot easier that way!” –bluntdivaenergy

“Stilla.” – santo.santo

“Almay.” –lunaysolmoz

“Use eyeshadow to trace and then go in with your favorite eyeliner.” –artsyannaart

“I’ve been putting liquid liner since I was 15. Kat Von D tattoo liner is the best hands down!!! I see a lot of people start from the wing 🚫 don’t do that. If you want that perfect swish at the end. You gotta start from the inner corner of your eye. Start thin and gradually apply pressure to thicken the line. Once you get to the end of the eye, stop and continue your swish. I always follow the crease of my eye for where to position my angle. Always make sure to go back and get that bottom outer corner for the full swish effect. ✨ In fewer words, as said by Hermione Granger, ‘swish and flick!’”- primalys

“Put concealer around it it give you that sharp nice looking effect.”- jetsemanytamayo

“Rest the end of your hand against the side of your eye by your cheekbone and dont stop until you made the full line.”- bori_bomba

@reinarebelde’s rebel eye definer liquid in Zapatista is my go to! 👌🏽❤️❤️❤️ it doesn’t smear at alllll.”- pwr_girlz

“I’ve been using the @stilacosmetics stay all day liquid eyeliner for years. Others don’t seem to stay on me all day and I use the pen like tip to create it.”- miriguti

“Practice! And liner with a brush tip like @urbandecaycosmetics or @nyxcosmetics. I wanna try @sweetstreetcosmetics I heard their liner is amazing too!” –bitches.have.boundaries

“Follow the waterline and set with eyeshadow.”- ainhoanegro

“One little bottom line on one eye. Then another line on the other eye. Make sure theyre even and then fill it in starting from the lash line. If the lines arent even then its a lot easier to just erase the line instead of the whole wing you just did.”- mariela_romero_

“Lots of practice and a slow strokes if you have a shaky hand like me.” –xtina_ace

@thebalm Shwing liner!”- lily_a90
