Yo-yoing is an intense and exciting sport that connects millions of people from around the world. It transcends language barriers and brings people together for exciting competitions. One woman from Mexico is catching the world’s attention. Her name is Betty Gallegos.

Betty Gallegos is changing the world of yo-yoing with her impressive skills.

Gallegos has been yo-yoing since she was 12 years old, according to her own words in “We Are The Champions.” The Netflix original series follows people in sporting events that are region-specific or off of everyone’s radars. One episode is dedicated to the competitive and amicable sport of yo-yoing.

Gallegos is a rising star on the international yo-yo stage.

The yo-yoing superstar is a 2-time Women’s World champion and is the current Mexican national champion. In 2019, Gallegos was looking to make history as the first woman to compete in the 1A World Championship final. “We Are The Champions” followed Gallegos on her journey to Cleveland, Ohio to compete against the best.

The Meerkat is Gallegos first signature yo-yo created with YoYoFactory. The lightweight yo-yo is Gallegos’ go-to yo-yo for all of her competition and social media needs.

Gallegos’ performance at the 2019 World Yo-Yo Contest was spectacular. The Mexican yo-yo athlete goes for glory and leaves it all on the stage. As for how she does, you’ll have to watch the show to find out.

Gallegos is working hard to show the boys that girls are just as capable.

Yo-yoing, like so many things before it is heavily dominated by men. Gallegos wants her presence in the yo-yo contests to bring more women to the sport. Gallegos says that she wants to be the one to pave the way for more women in yo-yo in “We Are The Champions.” As her time at the world competition comes to an end, Gallegos hopes she is closer to achieving that goal.

Covid might have canceled 2020 but Gallegos is already looking to the future.

Covid came in just to take away 2020. The year that so many said was going to be their year. The virus postponed this years World Yo-Yo Contest and Gallegos is ready to get back to the stage in 2021. The sky’s the limit and Gallegos is unapologetically reaching for her piece of it.
