Snapchat Added A ‘Chavo Del Ocho’ Filter And People Across The Internet Are Happy AF
Multimedia app, Snapchat, which is known for their fun and creative filters, temporarily added a filter to celebrate the birthday of iconic Mexican actor and comedian, Roberto Gómez Bolaños. Commonly known by his stage name, Chespirito, Bolaños is best known for his role as El Chavo in Mexican television series, “El Chavo del Ocho.”
Although Bolaños passed away in 2014 due to heart failure, he was brought back to life in this detailed Snapchat filter and people across the Internet expressed their nostalgic emotions about both the show and the actor.
Several people across the internet were completely shook when they found out this filter existed.

The detail of the torta included in the filter was definitely a bonus.
Some fans took a moment to remember Bolaños and what he appreciated most about his role in “El Chavo del Ocho.”

“Si algo aprendí del Chavo del Ocho es que se puede ser feliz y sonreír sin tener nada,” is what Bolaños said when he was asked what his role in the show meant to him.
In English this means, “If there’s something I learned about ‘El Chavo del Ocho,’ it’s that you can be happy in life and you can smile without having anything.”
Comedian Cristela Alonzo, had some fun with the filter and posted a video of her reenacting El Chavo’s love for tortas.

There was no doubt that the addition of this Chavo del Ocho filter was a very special moment for many Latinos.
Guys I’m on the verge of tears at work. They have a El Chavo Del Ocho filter on Snapchat. DO YALL KNOW HOW BIG THAT IS?? I grew up watching that show everyday! My nickname is literally La Chilindrina. My little Mexican heart is so happy ?❤️??

My best friend’s nickname was also La Chilindrina growing up.
Since many Latinos grew up watching “El Chavo del Ocho,” seeing this filter come to life gave them major nostalgia.

Even though several Snapchat users were upset about the app’s recent change in format, this filter made up for it.

Overall, Latinos are extremely happy and appreciative about the filter and hope to see more Latinx television icons featured as filters on the app.
