Omar Apollo Shares His Favorite Summer Cocktail, Reveals His Latest Collab

A Grammy nomination and performing at Coachella are just a few things Omar Apollo has accomplished this year.

But that’s not a surprise as the Mexican singer had an incredible 2022, meaning 2023 would only have bigger things for him. 

In 2022, Apollo released his debut album “Ivory” where he entered Billboard’s “Hot 100” chart with “Evergreen (You Didn’t Deserve Me At All)”.

The track went viral on TikTok and soon became a new trend. Users would scream the lyrics or post the glow-up post-heartbreak. If you are on a healing journey, blast this track and thank us later.

Now, Omar is continuing his partnership with Buchanan’s Scotch Whiskey and mitú caught up with him to talk about this and his summer plans.

Omar Apollo is focusing on music in 2023

To start off, Omar is focused on music this year. He wasn’t too keen on sharing precisely what projects he’s working on but he has “a lot of exciting things coming this year.”

Maybe some collaborations? Regional Mexican music is global and collaborations with artists like Grupo Firme or Grupo Frontera are possibilities. “I’m sure at some points our paths will cross when the time is right,” he says. 

Apollo is not new to the world of collabs as he has teamed up with Kali Uchis, Daniel Caesar, and Ruel in the past, but when it comes to picking a favorite, he says he can’t.

This summer, his latest collaboration is with Buchanan’s Scotch Whiskey

With Summer right around the corner, we asked Omar what his go-to drink for the season was and what song is on his playlist.

“Buchanan’s Pineapple is the drink of summer. I love it mixed with coconut water, with a pineapple garnish, or with club soda. And a Tajin rim for a spicy kick,” he says. “Either way, however you like, it’s meant to be enjoyed with friends this summer.”

Pair the drink with “The Woman’s Work” by Kate Bush and you have Apollo’s perfect Summer combo.

As far as what has made him happy this year— it’s been living alone. “It’s been bringing me a lot of peace into my life,” the musician says.

His partnership with Buchanan’s Pineapple has also brought him joy.

“We launched the new product during GRAMMY’s weekend, and last Friday kicked off the unofficial start of summer in Miami, and we have so much more in store!” he admits.
