Colombian reggaeton superstar Maluma is giving his nickname “Papi Juancho” a whole new meaning.

The “Hawaii” star just announced that he and his longtime girlfriend, Susana Gómez, are expecting their first child. Maluma shared the news in a romantic and deeply personal way.

While performing his new single “Procura” in Washington, DC, on October 19, Maluma debuted the music video for the song. The clip is a touching tribute to the love between him and Gómez. Featuring them driving together intercut with actual home videos documenting their relationship. We’re not crying.

The music video shows Maluma and Gómez with tears in their eyes seeing the ultrasound of their first baby. It ends with a gender reveal showing Paris is going to be a girl.

Although the couple has been private about their relationship, they’ve been steady since 2020. Here’s everything to know from their first public outing to their pregnancy announcement.

Who is Susana Gómez ?

At first, not much was known about Susana Gómez since she wasn’t famous or in the entertainment industry like Maluma. Gómez is a Colombian architect and interior designer. Like Maluma, she’s from the city of Medellín. 

She also owns a jewelry company with her sister called Sileo Timeless, which debuted in February 2023. According to her company’s Instagram, her jewelry is made up of “handcrafted pieces made in Medellin, using precious stones such as diamonds, Colombian emeralds, rubies, or other kinds of semiprecious stones.”

Of course, Maluma was right by her side supporting her at Sileo Timeless’ release event. 

Maluma and Susana Gómez Start Dating in Private

Since both Maluma and Gómez have remained private about their relationship, it’s hard to pin down exactly when the couple started dating or even how they met.

However, they were first spotted out in public together in August 2020. According to HOLA!, the pair were seen in Miami together walking the singer’s dog while shopping. Other photographers also captured the couple together a few months before, leaving fans to speculate.

They made their relationship Instagram official in 2021 — then took it down

In December 2021, Maluma posted a blurry pic of him kissing a woman suspected to be Gómez in front of his family’s Christmas tree. The caption simply said, “Gracias Santa.”

His fans already suspected the woman in the photo was Gómez and took to social media to talk about his new relationship. However, Maluma deleted the post, causing even greater chit-chat on social media.

The last time he went public with a relationship on his Instagram was in October 2019  when he was dating model Natalia Barulich. 

Mom and sister approved

It has been reported that Gómez has a good relationship with Maluma’s mother, Marlli Arias, and his sister, Manuela Londoño. The architect has appeared in some of Arias’ Instagram posts, including one from December 2022. The pic is from their family’s holiday trip with everyone posing together wearing matching hats.

Maluma previously expressed the importance of family. In a 2020 interview with HOLA!, he expressed, “…sometimes we forget about the love of our lives and I really dream about it. I want to have a family; I want to share that time with the love of my life until I get old.” 

These thoughts are what inspired his song, “ADMV,” showing that Maluma’s a true romantic at heart.

The couple has traveled the world together

While Maluma has only posted a few pictures of the couple on Instagram and Gómez’s Instagram is private, photographers have captured them traveling around the world for both work and vacation.

They were photographed sightseeing in Greece in March 2022. A few months later, they vacationed on a private yacht in Spain. In August 2022, Maluma’s sister posted a photo of Maluma, Gómez, and his family all together supporting the Contraluz mezcal launch in Oaxaca, Mexico.

Their most recently known travel destination has been to Miami Beach in February 2023 to promote Maluma’s mezcal brand. They were seen showing some serious PDA with cuddling, hugging, and kissing.

Marriage in sight?

In January 2023, Maluma’s fans went crazy as engagement rumors circled social media. The buzz sparked from Maluma’s 29th birthday party in Miami where celebrities like Marc Anthony and David Beckham were in attendance.

People reported, “As soon as his pals were finished singing ‘Happy Birthday,’ he asked a friend for a ring and gestured to his left ring finger in a video. First, he pretends to put it on his cake, then looks over at Gómez, who is covering her face, and winks before giving the ring back to his friend and laughing it off. He gave Gómez  a kiss, and then blew out the candles.”

Now, the happy couple is taking the next step in their relationship as they wait to welcome their new bebecita to the world.
