White Woman Called Black Women The N-Word At A Restaurant And Says “I Would Say It Again”

Since Donald Trump has been in office as president, hate crimes in the United States have skyrocketed. Every day a new video goes viral showcasing how racists degrade and insult innocent Black people and people of color. Recently, a new video was uploaded that has already gotten thousands of views and comments. It shows a Raleigh woman dropping the N-word at two Black women in a North Carolina restaurant.

This woman used the N-word repeatedly and felt so justified in her hate speech that she went on to her local news to defend her use of diction.

On July 23rd, Shaunda Stewart and Lekesha Shaw were dining at a local restaurant in their area. They were then approached by Nancy Goodman, another patron. Goodman told the women that they were the rudest people she’s ever met because of their alleged loud volume.

When Stewart began filming the incident, Goodman did the same and approached the two at their table. She then told them that they were too loud. When Shaw stated that her money was good as Goodman’s, meaning that they had every right to be there, Goodman said to the pair, “You’re so stupid, [N-word].”

The story doesn’t end there. After the video went viral, Goodman went on her local news to defend her use of the word.

The woman appeared on WRAL News to tell her side of the story. According to Goodman, she suffers from terrible anxiety and was pushed to use the N-word with the women. What’s more, she said she would use the word again given the situation.

“I’m not going to say I’m sorry to them because they kept pushing at it,” the woman told WRAL News. “I used that word because they forced me into it.”

When asked if she could see that the use of the N-word is incredibly offensive, Goodman responded, “Yes, that’s why I said it. I would say it again to them.”

Shaw and Stewart were also interviewed by WRAL News and were in awe of Goodman’s audacity.

“I don’t care how you feel like we should have been acting,” Shaw told WRAL News. “If I was standing on the table with three heads and a purple jumpsuit, nothing justified you to come to my table and call me a stupid (N-word).”

Goodman said that the only thing she would have done differently was to ask restaurant management to tell the women to quiet themselves. However, when asked if she was sorry for using the N-word, she resolutely said she wasn’t.

Twitter, of course, had a lot to say about Goodman and her racial slur.

In the video, Goodman mentions that she has Black friends whom she loves. We aren’t sure why she felt the need to add that but after she dropped the N-word, Shaw and Stewart told the woman to use that slur around these Black friends. This Twitter user questioned the existence of the friends and was curious to see what they would say about Goodman’s use of such a gross slur.

This tweet pointed out Trump’s influence.

This Twitter user suggested that Goodman would feel at home in a Trump rally. Not only did the woman prove to be racist, she also showed herself to be an instigator since she was the one who started the whole interaction. When will white people learn to just leave innocent Black people and people of color alone? It would prevent so much hostility and violence.

Some Twitter users noticed that it’s obvious that Goodman would be a racist because of her age and location.

Raleigh is located in the Deep South and desegregation only started 62 years ago. With these facts in mind, it suggests that Goodman was raised in a racist community. Still, that is no reason for her to not better herself, examine her prejudices and apologize for her use of the racial slur.

Maybe Goodman just doesn’t belong in society.

As this tweet points out, if being around loud noises forces you to use racist language, maybe you shouldn’t be out in public. Honestly, Goodman’s reasoning is ridiculous and abandons any responsibility she should take for her own actions.

In the end, it’s clear that this woman does not deserve a pass because of her “anxiety.” When racists expose themselves, it’s our job to hold them accountable so they know that they no longer have no place in our community or our country.
