YouTube Personality Bought Michigan Town, Renamed It Gay Hell And Outlawed All Flags Except Pride Flags

Hell, Michigan has always been an amusing tourist spot. They cater to people who want to get married in the fiery pits of Hell, you can buy the opportunity to be mayor of Hell for a day — hell, even their website is a cheeky GoToHellMI.com.

But even Hell needs a shake-up now and then, which, in this case, comes in the form of new ownership.

A YouTube personality and LGBTQ activist has bought the tiny town of Hell, Michigan to help celebrate Pride Month with a middle finger to the Trump administation’s policy against flying Pride flags at US Embassies.

Welcome to Gay Hell, Michigan.

That’s the message from comedian and internet personality Elijah Daniel, who “bought” the small, unincorporated community of Hell, Michigan and renamed it in protest of President Donald Trump this week. He also decreed that the only flags allowed to fly in the city are Pride flags.

The new owner made it his first official act to ban all flags except Pride flags.

Daniel admitted the flag thing is a joke, flags for everyone! Because that’s freedom.

This isn’t the first time Daniel has used Hell as a statement against Trump.

Back in 2017, he took advantage of their Mayor-for-a-Day program and banned heterosexuality. Part of his proclamation demanded that any heterosexuals who did not participate in heterosexual reparation therapy would be required to wear both a scarlet letter “H” and cargo shorts.

He was impeached immediately.

But now, as owner, he has been able to make an even bigger statement. And the gays and our hellish allies are reacting appropriately.

Many are already planning their move to be part of the enterprising community of Gay Hell.

Other’s asked the new owner to also annex the nearby city of Climax…for obvious reasons.

Because Gay Climax sounds like even more fun than Gay Hell.

One Twitter user actually grew up nearby Hell, Michigan and loves the name change!

Not sure what hearsefest is…but glad that even Michigan locals are enjoying the name change.

And according to the new owner, the city already has everything you actually need in a city.

And don’t forget, tons of Pride flags!

So is Gay Hell, Michigan here to stay for all eternity?

Probably not. He appears to be taking advantage of his contacts in the community to temporarily buy and rename the town for some “Hellish humor.”

“It’s all in good fun, Hell style,” town officials wrote on Facebook.

The Michigan native’s latest stunt isn’t meant to be taken seriously long-term, town officials said, but with media organizations across the globe taking note, Daniel’s message is being heard loud and clear.

“I’m getting my audience involved in politics by doing it in a funny way,” he told CNN. “I’m just from Michigan and every time we drove past we knew that town, oh that’s Hell. I just thought turning it into Gay Hell would be funny.”
