This Organization Is Offering Legal Help To Low-Income Immigrants
This organization wants to help low-income Latinos in Philadelphia.
Esperanza Immigration Legal Services in Philadelphia is trying to help the immigrant community now more than ever. Now, ELIS offers more than just help on getting papers filed for naturalization.
The legal organization also works with immigrants so they can achieve their education goals. In the video above, ELIS worked with DREAMer Damara to get her enrolled in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program and used that to get her to college. ELIS also offers English classes as well as teaching immigrants about financial literacy to better prepare them for success in the U.S.
According to the ELIS website, the organization has helped to naturalize 200 new American citizens and have worked closely with 800 immigrants in Philadelphia. Some other services they provide to immigrants are helping acquire special visas for unaccompanied minors and self-petitions for victims of domestic violence.
ELIS is asking for help on FundLatinos to make their dreams of serving more immigrants come true. According to the website, ELIS is “driven by the biblical mandate to serve the “least of these” (Matt. 25:40).”
