With a GPA of 4.8, high school student Yessica Calderon, just got a full ride to Regis College – and the message she has for every student is definitely empowering.
“Some nights I would cry, not knowing what I would do with my future,” said Yessica Calderon as she accepted her full ride scholarship to Regis College. Despite having the qualifications to attend a four-year university, Yessica did not have access to any federal aid to help her pay for tuition because she wasn’t born in the U.S. This made the possibility of going to college slim to none. But thanks to the help of Regis College and non-profit organization, Boston Scholar Athletes, Yessica now has a full ride to Regis College, and she couldn’t be happier about it. Her message to every other high school student is this:
“Don’t give up. You can do it – you have a purpose in life […] And you should not feel down, don’t feel less just because you don’t have the same opportunities. Reach out for those, look for those.”
