‘The Nun’ Actor Demián Bichir’s Wife, Stefanie Sherk, Found Dead At The Bottom Of Their Family’s Swimming Pool

Mexican-American actor Demián Bichir announced Wednesday evening that his wife, Canadian actress, and model Stefanie Sherk, died this past weekend on April 20. According to reports by the L.A. County Medical Examiner-Coroner the actress’s death has been ruled a suicide.

Sherk was 43.

Bicher, 55, confirmed the death of his wife via Instagram where he shared a touching post dedicated to his wife.

In a message to followers on Instagram, Bichir wrote in English and Spanish that his “beloved and loving” wife, whom he had no children with, “passed away peacefully.” He did not provide details around the circumstances of his wife’s death though recent reports reveal that she likely died by suicide.

“It has been the saddest and toughest time of our lives and we don’t know how much time it will take for us to overcome this pain,” wrote the actor who played Cuban dictator Fidel Castro in the film “Che” and has been an Academy Award Best Actor nominee. “Stefanie’s beautiful, angelical and talented presence will be immensely missed. We will hold Stefanie in our hearts forever. We thank everybody beforehand for their prayers and we respectfully ask for your understanding so we may grieve in peace and privacy in these incredibly difficult times.”

Bichir and Sherk were a couple since 2010.
