Texas Family Puts On Holiday Show With 100,000 Lights And Music By Selena And ‘Coco’
One of the best parts of celebrating the holidays is seeing how festive people can get with their home decorations. It’s pretty amazing to see how far people will go to outdo their neighbors or to show how important Christmas is to them. Mostly, though, a spectacular light show is all about entertaining the public. Who hasn’t spent hours in the car with the family looking at everyone’s lights? Well, there’s one Texas family that outdoes everyone every year.
For the past four years, the Hinojosa family in Boerne, Texas, have been putting on an incredible Christmas light show.Hinojosa Family Lights – Boerne, TX
Beto Hinojosa told NBC News last year that it takes roughly two months to put the show together.
“The sequencing is the most time consuming since you have to perfectly align the music to the lights within the software. Family, friends, and neighbors all come over to help when they can,” the elementary school principal said.
However, it’s only been in the past two years that their incredible holiday light show has attracted so much attention.
Back in 2016, the family put up a light show that paid tribute to the servicemen and servicewomen of the U.S. military.
Eight months ago, the family asked their community on Facebook which songs they would like them to play this year.Facebook/hinojosalights
Looks they had a lot of input too. Some of the contenders were Michael Jackson, Despacito, Bruno Mars, and others.
But it seems like the winner was a favorite from last year.
For the second year in a row, the Hinojosa family will be setting their light show music to Selena’s “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom.”
Selena fans, of course, had to see this show for themselves. Click on the third slide to see the video. To watch the entire show click here.
The show also features “Un Poco Loco,” “Remember Me” and others from the Pixar film “Coco.”
This portion of the show is almost four minutes long and worth every minute.
To see the show for yourself head to 140 Shadow Knolls in Boerne, Texas, Sunday through Thursday between 5:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. (not on rainy days). The show will run through Jan. 6.
This Christmas the Hinojosa family is upping their show by adding 40,000 more lights, bringing a total of 100,000 lights on their property.
While the Hinojosa family graciously puts on this massive show to entertain the public they are putting out a donation box. Funds collected will go toward the Warrior Chef, an organization that helps veterans and their families.
