Twenty Seven – That’s How Many Times Carrie Fisher Slapped Oscar Isaac During Shooting For ‘Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi’

Cuban-Guatemalan actor Oscar Isaac was recently on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” to talk about the role that made him a household name. As one of the heroes of the new “Star Wars” trilogy, Isaac spoke about his role as Poe Dameron, the dashing pilot who is part of “The Resistance.” Coincidentally, the interview took place on the 40th anniversary of the release of of the original “Star Wars.” Colbert reminded Isaac of this because Colbert is a self-described Star Wars nerd.

Oscar Isaac visited “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and celebrated the 40th anniversary of “Star Wars.”

The two bro-ed out over their first experiences with “Star Wars.” Isaac talked about how seeing Darth Vader without his helmet made him think all bad guys were bald and fat. Isaac also talked about his first day of shooting with Carrie Fisher for the new film, “The Last Jedi.” They had a scene together where Poe got smacked really hard by Princess Leia. They couldn’t get it right and had to shoot the scene over and over again — 27 times to be exact. That’s right, Poe Dameron got slapped up by Princess Leia!

They also discussed the newest installment of the film franchise, “Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi” and Isaac’s first acting role.

While discussing his role in the new “Star Wars” movie, it got them talking about how Isaac first got into acting. It turns out his dad directed him in home movies. They showed a clip of it and it’s pretty epic.

Isaac also talked about his upcoming role as Hamlet in the classic Shakespearean play.

Isaac will play the title role in “Hamlet” soon in New York City at the Public Theater. Good luck getting tickets though, as the entire run is sold out. Tickets on third party sites are now triple the original price… I know, I checked. ?

Check out the whole interview below.

We can’t wait to see Poe’s journey in the new film!
