Los Angeles Declared Today Coco Day And This Is How People Are Celebrating

“Coco” is officially out on Blu-Ray and DVD and fans are over the moon.

Whether you purchase it on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray or DVD, “Coco” will finally be yours to own. The added features make it so special.

According to The Geekiary, some bonus features include commentary with director Lee Unkrich, co-director Adrian Molina, and producer Darla K. Anderson who discuss a proof of concept which was produced to get the project approved; how to draw skeleton by Danny Arriaga, the character art director who teaches you how to draw a skeleton, Pixar-style; and, of course, deleted scenes!

To mark this beautiful occasion, Los Angeles City Councilmember Gil Cedillo declared Feb. 27, as Coco Day in L.A.

Cedillo held a special ceremony in front of City Hall, in downtown Los Angeles, alongside Unkrich, Anderson, and actor Anthony Gonzalez, who is the voice of Miguel.

The dedication in L.A. was filled with fans, “Coco” creatives, musicians, and dancers.

The mariachi performed “Un Poco Loco” and “Remember Me.”

The cast of “Coco” was there to celebrate the big day.

Guests included comedian Gabriel Iglesias (voice of the clerk), creative consult and illustrator Lalo Alcaraz, Renee Victor (voice of la abuelita), and more.

Gonzalez danced and sang for attendees.

We had no idea he knew the zapateado.

The ceremony also included a Day of the Dead altar and Mexican bread.

They really decorated City Hall so beautifully.

People also celebrated at Disneyland California Adventure Park.

The theme park located adjacent to Disneyland in Anaheim, California, had the grounds decked out in Coco-themed decorations.

The Disney theme park also had folkorico dancers and a mariachi.

It truly feels like Cinco de Mayo and Day of the Dead all rolled into one.

If you can’t be in L.A. for Coco Day, there’s other ways to celebrate.

The L.A. Public Library released a list of children’s book that celebrate Day of the Dead and Mexican culture.

Who is going out to buy the movie today?

The film is currently No. 2 on iTunes and it’s been less than 24 hours.
