‘Jelena’ Is Back: Selena Gomez Dropped A Single Hinting At Relationship With Bieber, And Hailey Had Something To Say
It appears Selena Gomez’s newest hit isn’t just doing some healing for her. After an intense week that included the drop of two insightful songs and some fan speculation, and even some bullying, Gomez and her ex’s wife Hailey Baldwin might be ready to set aside their grievances.
After fans threw shade towards Baldwin earlier this week, the model showed support to Selena through an Instagram like.
Soon after Gomez’s song “Lose You To Love Me” first dropped, Baldwin posted the song “I’ll Kill You” by Summer Walker to her Instagram Story. Fans speculated that Hailey was throwing shade at Selena, but Baldwin quickly shot down the speculation and called it “BS.” Typical to social media culture, the bullies swarmed and struck at Baldwin until Gomez intervened.
Then recently, after a friend of Gomez shared an image celebrating the singer, Baldwin liked it.
Could this mean it’s all over?
Earlier this week, Gomez dropped a new song called “Lose You to Love Me,” and literally everyone thinks it’s about Justin Bieber. This morning, Hailey Bieber posted Story of Summer Walker’s song “I’ll Kill You,” on her IG story and she had the entire internet reading into the whole thing. Here’s everything that went down.

Selena Gomez sings, ”You promised the world and I fell for it, I put you first and you adored it.” “Lose You to Love Me” traces a toxic relationship with some pointed lines that have fueled speculation that the tune is Gomez purging her heartbreak over Bieber.
Yes, Justin is now a married man, but that hasn’t stopped the internet from talking about “Jelena,” again.

Justin Bieber married Hailey Baldwin —or Hailey Bieber rather— in the autumn of 2018. After a few weeks of speculation, the singer took to social media to confirm the marriage. Bieber published an Instagram photograph of the duo walking hand-in-hand with the simple caption: “My wife is awesome.” Baldwin promptly changed her social domain to @haileybieber and the Beliebers went wild. “It took some getting used to, for sure,” Baldwin told Bustle of changing her name. “It’s definitely strange, it takes adjusting.”
In September of this year, the couple threw a larger celebration.

Justin and Hailey exchanged vows in front of 154 guests, according to People. The ceremony took place at the Somerset Chapel of Montage Palmetto Bluff hotel in Bluffton, South Carolina. The couple reportedly “fell in love” with the venue after visiting the area. The Biebers apparently “changed their minds so many times” about the ideal venue (past reports said they were eyeing Canada), but they ultimately agreed on this idyllic southern location.
Selena’s new song “Lose you to Love me,” is her first single since 2018.
The piano-driven pop ballad was released worldwide with an accompanying music video that —fun fact— was filmed using an Iphone 11. The song was dropped more than a year after Selena’s last single titled “Back to You” in 2018, which was released for the second season of Netflix‘s 13 Reasons Why.
After the release of “Lose You to Love Me,” Selena fans were completely outraged by Hailey.

Selena fans everywhere think the song is a not-so-subtle dig at her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber. After Hailey’s recent Instagram activity Jelena stans had the perfect bait to come for her yet again in some more of that three-way drama that has been going on for approximately 5ever now. Selena fans were completely outraged by Hailey’s “I’ll Kill You” Instagram story because it looked like Hailey was shading Selena for shading Justin… or so they thought.
Hailey Baldwin claims her “I’ll kill you” story wasn’t Selena Gomez shade.

On Instagram, literally moments after the song’s release, Hailey posted a screenshot to her Instagram Story of Summer Walker’s song “I’ll Kill You.” It wasn’t a good look. Naturally, Selenators started calling out Hailey. Some people online claimed that Hailey was actually threatening to kill Selena (which is honestly such a reach), while others swarmed Hailey’s IG with quotes from Selena’s song and dragged Justin for moving on from Selena so quickly post-breakup.
Following the online backlash, Hailey made sure to set the record straight. After Just Jared posted about the drama to its Instagram account, Hailey replied and said, “Please stop with this nonsense…there is no ‘response.’ This is complete BS.” Hailey later deleted her comment, but since the internet is forever, there are screenshots—we have receipts.
So what does this all mean, exactly? Well, it mainly means Selena fans will never not hate Hailey, so long as Justin is married to her. Only time will tell if there’s more Selena shade directed toward Justin and Hailey, so we’ll just have to wait for another new single.
“Love You To Lose Me”is expected to be the lead single from the 27-year-old’s potential upcoming third studio album, which would serve as a followup to 2015’s Revival.
