It’s Been 19 Years Since The GRAMMYs Has Had This Many Latino Performers
The last time there were four Latino performers at the Grammys was in 1999. Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony, Poncho Sanchez, and Ibrahim Ferrer took the stage to prime the Grammy audience for the first ever Latin Grammys being held the following year. Now, 19 years later, four performers are once again showing that Latinos are a force in music and everyone should be paying attention. No doubt everyone tuning in on Jan. 28 will see Latinos showing the world how it’s done.
The Recording Academy, which hosts the Grammys, got so much love when they announced their super diverse nominees.

Not only is this the first time sine 1999 that we have four Latino performers. This is also the first time since 1999 that no white men have been nominated for the highly coveted Album of the Year trophy. The nominees for Album of the Year are “Awaken, My Love!” by Childish Gambino, “4:44” by Jay-Z, “DAMN.” by Kendrick Lamar, “Melodrama” by Lorde, and “24K Magic” by Bruno Mars.
And the announcement of all the Latino talent performing got people even more hyped.

“Despacito” took over the music world, becoming the most streamed song of all time. You might still be sick of the song but there is no denying that it put Latin music on the map last year. Now, all those folks tuning into will get another taste of the Caribbean-inspired masterpiece.

Cardi B and Bruno Mars are also taking their duet “Finesse” out for a spin on the Grammy stage.
No need for anything more than the lyrics to explain the greatness of this performance.
“Ooh, don’t we look good together? / There’s a reason why they watch all night long / Yeah, know we’ll turn heads forever / So tonight I’m gonna show you off.”
Fans of these two artists cannot wait to dance around their living rooms during the big night.
