Gina Rodriguez Had Some Questions For Fellow Chicagoan ‘Ferris Bueller’
Ferris Bueller gave her the answer she didn’t want but kind of expected.
Gina Rodriguez was on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” along with actors Matthew Broderick and Christopher Meloni (“Law & Order SVU”). Broderick played Ferris Bueller in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” the iconic ’80s teen movie which was set in Chicago. According to Box Office Mojo, the movie has grossed more than $70 million since its release in 1986. Rodriguez, as a Chicago native, obviously had some questions about the movie and the shooting locations. First, Rodriguez made it clear she’s a big fan of the film. However, as an actor and producer, Rodriguez isn’t fooled by the smoke and mirrors of Hollywood productions and was on a mission to reveal the truth behind one of her childhood classics.
“Did you really shoot it there?” Rodriguez asked Broderick. “I know that the parade was in Chicago, but tell me the truth.”
This is when Broderick let her down easy. He confirmed that all of the scenic shots of Chicago were in fact shot in Chicago. Phew. Yet, the magic was still ruined when Broderick admitted to the long-time “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” fan that the interior scenes in the different homes were all shot in LA.

Fortunately, it seems like Rodriguez will be able to recover from the ~shocking~ revelation that Broderick provided. At least now she knows the truth and can move on with her life knowing that parts of her favorite movie about her hometown did take place in her hometown.
