‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Fans Have Serious Questions About Shuga Cain’s Unjust Elimination

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” has been a cultural phenomenon for years. There have been ups and downs and careers have been made thanks to the show centering around drag queen culture. The show has given us stars like Valentina and Violet Chachki. It has also given us moments that have left fans stunned. We have another shocking moment from last night’s episode with the upsetting elimination of Latina queen Shuga Cain. Here’s what went down and how fans are reacting to the elimination they never saw coming.

Shuga Cain, a.k.a. Jesus Martinez, is no longer in the running on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and people are pissed.

The latest episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” was all about magic. The queens were separated into two teams and performed their own magic shows complete with tricks, choreography, and comedy. Shuga Cain was in a team with Nina West and Brooke Lynne Hytes. Silky Nutmeg Ganache, Vanessa “Miss Vanjie” Mateo, Yvie Oddly, and A’Keria C Davenport were on another team.

There was a clear winner between the two teams and that team was Shuga Cain’s team. There is no disputing that fact.

Not only are people upset since she was on the winning team, but Shuga Cain also had a better, more accurate runway look than some of the queens.

Fans are really upset over the unexpected elimination. Fans are gagged and are not holding back on their critiques about RuPaul sending Shuga Cain packing after a strong performance.

Exhibit A: The runway challenge was Caftan Realness.

No shade intended at A’Keira C. Davenport, but that is not a caftan. RuPaul has consistently called out and eliminated queens if they had a poor maxi challenge performance (✔️) and didn’t follow the runway theme (✔️). In fact, all the judges said the same thing to A’Keira C. Davenport and read her for her faux caftan.

When Mama Ru said Shuga Cain was up for elimination, “Drag Race” fans everywhere were shook.

Why? How? It is the most stunning injustice in the franchise since Shangela was robbed of her All Stars win. If there’s one thing “Drag Race” fans are is devoted. They will not let an injustice like this stand and will always remind the queens that they are winning because someone else got robbed.

At least one person has come out to support the decision to eliminate Shuga Cain.

It is interesting to see this person say that Miss Vanjie slayed the lip sync. That is not the question here. While that is true, the fact remains that Shuga Cain shouldn’t have even been in the bottom two to begin with. There were so many other queens who failed their maxi challenge and runway look.

A few people think it was really Silky Nutmeg Ganache’s turn to lip sync for her life.

Emotions are high af about this controversial elimination. Not to mention that proper padding is one of the most important parts of drag. It is a fundamental building block for the entire aesthetic. Silky Nutmeg Ganache’s excuse was tat her body wasn’t work for her that day. Seems people just aren’t having it with her excuse.

However, what is done is done, no matter how unjust it might have been.

Shuga Cain should still be on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and fans are letting that be known. It is a real loss to the show and for fans for the clear fan-favorite to be sent home long before her time.
