Juan Gabriel Is The Inspiration For This Honduran’s Latest Fashion Collection And It’s Magical
Honduran fashion designer Carlos Campos is a huge fan of the late Juan Gabriel. So much in fact, that he honored the music legend in his latest runway show.
Carlos Campos debuted his Juan Gabriel-inspired men’s fall 2018 collection at his own show on Feb. 6.
Campos told Women’s Wear Daily that his designs and tailoring were inspired by the traditional charro outfit.
“I love mariachis and their music and I wanted to reinterpret what Juan Gabriel would have worn today,” Campos told WWD.
The line is rich in color, and also features lots of turtlenecks matched with blazers.
Campos, who was inspired to be a fashion designer by his father who was a master tailer, launched his first collection in 2007. His show this year had a few celebs in attendance including Whoopi Goldberg. Campos’ use of turtlenecks shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone paying attention to the latest trends since it is one of the hottest looks right now.
Here’s a clip of the show, and check out the music. Juan Gabriel would be proud.
You’ll probably get chills just watching it.
His fans clearly loved it too.Instagram/@carloscamposdesigner
Campos has used his platform as a fashion designer to bring attention to the immigration debate surrounding Dreamers and DACA recipients. He came to the U.S. without documentation when he was only 13 but has since changed his status.
“I am the perfect example of the American dream,” Carlos told AFP News. “I am a dreamer and I will continue to be.” He also said: “I sympathize with them because I lived this situation for many years. “It’s very sad to see them in that situation ― we all deserve an opportunity.”

JuanGa is clearly still very missed by his fans.
